Panambur Beach in Karnataka is on the brink of transformation, poised to become the state’s third scuba diving destination. The Kadali Beach Tourism Development, a unit of Bhandary Builders, is spearheading this initiative, with plans to introduce scuba diving within the next 20 days.
Lakshmish Bhandary, Managing Director of Bhandary Builders and partner at Kadali Beach Tourism Development, shared that a recent survey revealed a shipwreck off Panambur Beach evolving into a picturesque underwater site. The region, rich in marine life, offers immense potential for ecological exploration and attracting tourists, despite not having vibrant coral reefs like Netrani Island.
Alongside scuba diving, Kadali Beach Tourism has introduced various water sports activities, such as parasailing, speedboat rides, jet skis, and desert bikes. The demand for these activities, particularly parasailing, is already high, with around 150 rides recorded over the weekends. During the Deepavali season, the beach witnessed a significant increase in footfall, attracting up to 12,000 visitors during weekends.
Kadali Beach Tourism Development, formed in collaboration with Dr. Rajesh Hukkeri, is responsible for the development and maintenance of Panambur Beach for the next ten years. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the beach's appeal and provide top-notch facilities to locals and tourists alike.
Bhandary also announced the upcoming inauguration of a beachside party space by the end of the month. Plans are underway to introduce beachside barbeque counters, available every day from 6.30 PM to 10.30 PM, offering families an enjoyable experience. These developments aim to establish Panambur Beach as a premier beach destination and reverse the trend of crowds favoring other beaches due to limited facilities.
The introduction of scuba diving and other water sports at Panambur Beach marks a significant milestone in Karnataka's tourism sector. This initiative not only diversifies the recreational options available but also promises to boost the local economy by drawing in both domestic and international tourists.
