The Government of Goa has taken a giant leap towards digital transformation and tourism enhancement with the launch of key initiatives aimed at boosting connectivity, governance, and tourism infrastructure. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Minister Rohan A. Khaunte unveiled these transformative measures at a ceremony held at Mantralaya, Porvorim.
Among the highlights of these initiatives is the introduction of free public WiFi hotspots at 75 strategic locations across the state. This move is set to provide seamless digital connectivity for residents and visitors alike. Additionally, the installation of 11 new 4G BSNL towers will significantly improve mobile network coverage, further emphasizing the government’s dedication to a robust digital ecosystem.
To revolutionize tourism, the "Let’s Goa" platform has been launched as an innovative, user-friendly guide for tourists to explore the state effortlessly. Complementing this is the "One Map Goa" GIS (Geographic Information System) portal, designed to streamline spatial planning, infrastructure development, and governance processes in the state.
Highlighting the vision behind these projects, Chief Minister Sawant stated, “Guided by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's Digital India vision, Goa is moving confidently into the future with Digital Goa. From free WiFi hotspots that particularly benefit students to the GIS Portal transforming governance and the Let’s Goa platform boosting tourism and local businesses, we are building a digitally inclusive and innovative Goa.”
Minister Khaunte echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the transformative potential of the initiatives. “We are delivering on our promises by empowering every Goan through connectivity and innovation. The GIS Portal enhances e-Governance with access to geospatial data, while the Let’s Goa platform integrates tourism and technology. These initiatives set benchmarks for growth, inclusivity, and sustainability across India.”
These efforts underscore Goa’s commitment to becoming a digitally empowered and tourism-friendly state, paving the way for sustainable growth and inclusivity while setting new standards for development across India.
