Hilton, a leading global hospitality company, has partnered with the Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) to offer career opportunities to retired army personnel, ex-servicemen, and their families. Through this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Hilton aims to leverage the leadership, discipline, and resilience of army veterans, aligning their skills with roles in the hospitality sector across South Asia.
AWPO, a dedicated non-profit organisation of the Indian Army, operates 17 regional offices and 49 placement centres across India, helping veterans and their families find post-service employment. Recognising the values of leadership, integrity, and teamwork, Hilton views this collaboration as an opportunity to enrich its workforce with individuals who bring a strong sense of discipline and responsibility.
Sabu Raghavan, Vice President - Human Resources, South Asia, Hilton, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating:
“Our army veterans bring leadership, discipline, and resilience – qualities that enrich any workplace. They have led teams in the toughest conditions, solved problems with limited resources, and carried the weight of responsibility on their shoulders. These are not just skills; they are the foundation of strong, capable individuals who can thrive in any industry.”
Under this initiative, AWPO will facilitate candidate selection, while Hilton’s recruitment team will conduct interviews to identify suitable roles based on the veterans’ expertise. To ease their transition into the hospitality industry, Hilton will also provide specialized training and upskilling programs, ensuring that veterans and their families find long-term success in their new careers.
Major General Ajay Singh Chauhan, Managing Director, AWPO, applauded Hilton’s commitment:
By creating opportunities that align with veterans’ unique skill sets, Hilton is setting an example for inclusivity and career growth in the hospitality industry. This partnership marks a step forward in empowering Indian Army personnel as they embark on new professional journeys beyond their military service.
