The 2023 World’s 50 Best Hotels Awards, a benchmark of excellence in the global hospitality sector, has spotlighted Hong Kong with two of its most esteemed hotels clinching top spots. Hong Kong celebrates a new milestone in global hospitality as two of its premier hotels, Rosewood Hong Kong and The Upper House, secure the second and fourth spots in the prestigious 2023 World's 50 Best Hotels Awards. This recognition not only cements Hong Kong's status as a top-tier destination but also showcases the region’s unparalleled hospitality offerings.
The Upper House: A Design Marvel Above Victoria Harbour
Nestled loftily above Admiralty's Pacific Place, The Upper House, designed by renowned Asian architect André Fu, stands as a beacon of creative and architectural excellence. Its brutalist exterior, conceptualised by British designer Thomas Heatherwick, and the richly-toned wooden lift inspired by Japan's torii gates, set a precedent for the hotel's design journey. Boasting over 400 pieces of meticulously selected and commissioned artwork, the hotel exudes a serene atmosphere, enhanced by a 40-metre metal installation by Hiroshiwata Sawada in its atrium.
The hotel's 117 rooms and studios, with their generous dimensions, muted tones, and stunning city views through floor-to-ceiling windows, offer a sanctuary of restorative modernity. Guests can indulge in the Mediterranean delights of Salisterra or enjoy refined cocktails at the bar. Starting at $650, the hotel's facilities include a swimming pool, fitness centre, and family-friendly options.

A contemporary marvel, Rosewood Hong Kong, located in historic Kowloon, has quickly become an iconic part of the city's skyline. Designed by Tony Chi, the hotel's interior is a blend of modern style and subtle luxury, featuring art by Damien Hirst and Henry Moore. The 413 rooms, a harmonious blend of neutral tones, plush seating, polished wood, and opulent bathrooms, offer guests a luxurious and multi-faceted experience.

Minor Hotels, a global hospitality group with over 560 properties across 58 countries, has announced the upcoming launch of NH Collection Ras Al Khaimah Al Marjan Island Hotel & Apartments, set to open in early 2028. The 156-key luxury property will be located on Al Marjan Island, a premier waterfront destination in Ras Al Khaimah, further strengthening the emirate’s position as a growing hub for upscale hospitality.
The announcement was made at THINC Middle East, marking another milestone in Minor Hotels’ regional expansion. The new property, developed in collaboration with RRS International Development FZ-LLC, will feature 120 beach-facing rooms and suites, alongside 36 branded serviced apartments. Designed for luxury and comfort, the hotel will boast four restaurants and bars, a gym, an outdoor pool, a kids’ club, a games room, a retail shop, and a co-working space, offering an elevated guest experience.
RRS International Development, a leading real estate developer in the UAE, is bringing its expertise to this project as part of its dedicated focus on Ras Al Khaimah’s booming hospitality and real estate sector. The NH Collection property is positioned as a key addition to Al Marjan Island’s evolving landscape, which includes the UAE’s first integrated resort and multiple five-star hotel projects.

The new NH Collection property will join Minor Hotels' expanding portfolio in the UAE, where the group currently operates 17 properties across four brands, including Anantara Mina Al Arab Ras Al Khaimah Resort, which debuted in early 2024. NH Collection first entered the UAE market with NH Collection Dubai The Palm in 2023—marking its global expansion beyond Europe and the Americas. Since then, the brand has extended its presence to Asia and the Indian Ocean, with further developments planned across Africa and the Middle East.

Proximo Spirits and Monika Alcobev Limited are launching the exclusive Bushmills Irish Whiskey GTR range at GMR Hyderabad Duty Free on February 14th, with availability in Delhi and Mumbai. This range includes 10, 12, 15, and 21-year-old single malts from the renowned Bushmills "World Wood Series."
Crafted in hand-selected casks, these whiskeys offer distinct flavors:
Bushmills 10 Year Old: Aged in bourbon and oloroso sherry butts, featuring honey, vanilla, raisins, and nuts.
Bushmills 12 Year Old: Finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, delivering dried fruit, vanilla, and espresso notes.
Bushmills 15 Year Old: Aged in first-fill and second-fill American oak, offering toasted oak, roasted nuts, and apple spice.
Bushmills 21 Year Old: Aged in bourbon and oloroso sherry casks, finished in Marsala casks, with flavors of ginger, candied fruits, and oak.
