Hyatt Hotels Corporation has revealed plans for its first Andaz hotel in Australia. The luxury lifestyle brand will make its debut on the Gold Coast in mid-2025 as part of a collaboration with Destination Gold Coast Consortium, a joint venture between The Star Entertainment Group, Far East Consortium, and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises. The new property, Andaz Gold Coast, will be integrated into The Star Gold Coast, a multi-billion-dollar mixed-use development on Broadbeach Island.
The hotel will occupy floors six to 21 of the 65-story second tower currently under construction. It will feature 202 guest rooms and suites, a fitness center, three food and beverage outlets, and a spacious outdoor pool deck complete with a cocktail bar, beach club, and al fresco dining. Guests will also have access to The Andaz Lounge, a signature space for casual dining and relaxation.
David Udell, Hyatt’s Group President for Asia Pacific, expressed excitement about the project, saying, “We are thrilled to announce plans to bring the Andaz brand to Australia’s premier resort destination in collaboration with The Star Gold Coast. Hyatt has had a brand presence in Australia for over 40 years, and we are excited to expand our luxury, lifestyle, and leisure offerings into sought-after destinations like the Gold Coast.”
The design of Andaz Gold Coast will be led by DBI Architects, with interiors by Hachem, an award-winning Australian design firm. The hotel’s aesthetic will be driven by the theme "Chase the Sun," celebrating the transformation of sunlight throughout the day. This concept will influence the atmosphere, from sunrise to sunset, creating an inspiring and dynamic environment for guests.
Steve McPharlin, General Manager of Hotels at The Star Gold Coast, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Andaz Gold Coast to our world-class tourism and entertainment precinct. As part of The Star Gold Coast’s AU$2 billion master plan, we are proud to continue our investment in this vibrant city while also creating new employment opportunities and offering unique hospitality experiences.”
Once open, Andaz Gold Coast will be part of one of Australia’s largest integrated resort developments. The property will offer visitors access to a variety of entertainment, dining, and shopping options, including Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. The hotel will also be located near beaches, rainforests, and popular theme parks, making it an attractive destination for both leisure and business travelers.
Tourism and Events Queensland CEO Patricia O’Callaghan commented on the importance of this new development, noting, “The Gold Coast is a world-renowned region, and it is energizing for the tourism industry to be welcoming a new international hotel brand to the region. More than four million Australians visited the Gold Coast last year, and we are steadily working to recover international arrivals to one of Australia’s best-known and well-loved destinations.”
With the addition of Andaz Gold Coast, Hyatt continues to grow its presence in Australia, where it currently operates 10 hotels under brands like Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, and Hyatt Regency. Globally, the Andaz brand includes close to 30 properties in cities such as New York, Tokyo, and Singapore, as well as resort locations like Bali and Maui.
