In a commendable effort to tackle global youth unemployment, Hyatt Hotels is making strides with its RiseHY program, designed to bridge the gap between young talent and the hospitality industry. Since launching the initiative in 2018, Hyatt and its affiliates have hired 5,700 individuals from the "Opportunity Youth" cohort—those aged 16 to 24, who are not engaged in employment or education.
Hyatt's mission to employ 10,000 Opportunity Youth by 2025 is well underway, as the program currently engages 400 hotels across 65 countries in this noble cause. The company's approach not only focuses on hiring but also on retaining and upskilling young talent, offering them access to skills training and internal job postings to foster long-term career development.
Addressing the high staff turnover rates typical of the hospitality sector, Hyatt's RiseHY program emphasises the importance of mentorship and support. The initiative collaborates with community organisations and nonprofits to provide vocational training and facilitate placements, empowering young people to advance in their careers within and beyond Hyatt.
With the RiseHY program, Hyatt is not just offering jobs but is also nurturing a future workforce equipped with the skills and opportunities to thrive in the hospitality industry. This investment in youth workforce development underscores Hyatt's commitment to social responsibility and industry leadership, making a tangible difference in the lives of thousands of young people around the world.
