In honour of World Environment Day, Radisson Blu Palace Resort & Spa, Udaipur, has rolled out a month-long tree plantation drive, taking its sustainability efforts a step beyond symbolic gestures. The initiative is aimed at reinforcing the resort’s ongoing commitment to ecological responsibility and climate resilience.
The campaign began in early June and received a significant boost with the visit of Shri Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Shri Sanjay Sharma, Minister of State for Forest Department, Environment and Climate Change, Government of India. Their participation in the plantation drive highlights the importance of collaborative action between public leadership and the hospitality sector in fostering a greener future.
The project is being led by Mr. Mahesh Singh Jasrotia, Vice President – Operations at Radisson Blu Palace Resort & Spa, Udaipur. Speaking about the initiative, he said,
“At Radisson Blu Udaipur, we believe true hospitality is about enriching lives—not just of our guests, but of our environment too. Our month-long plantation drive is an extension of our continued commitment to environmental responsibility."
The resort's eco-conscious practices include solar energy sourcing in partnership with a plant near Bikaner, sensor-based LED lighting, reflective exterior paint, and an atrium lobby designed for natural light optimization. These efforts reflect a broader ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) vision in line with Radisson Hotel Group’s global sustainability goals.
The plantation drive focuses on planting native trees and shrubs across the resort and surrounding community spaces. Local partners, staff volunteers, and guests are actively involved, making this a true community effort aimed at restoring biodiversity and promoting climate action.
In addition to energy initiatives, Radisson Blu Udaipur has also implemented rainwater harvesting, recycling, and waste management systems, while promoting inclusive employment and local upskilling as part of its long-term growth model.
Spread over eight acres of lush landscape and offering 244 rooms with panoramic views of Fateh Sagar Lake and the Aravalli hills, Radisson Blu Palace Resort & Spa, Udaipur, is one of the city’s premier luxury destinations. Known for hosting grand weddings and corporate events, the resort continues to set benchmarks in sustainable luxury and responsible tourism.
Reaffirming its steadfast dedication to sustainability, Lords Hotels & Resorts marked World Environment Day with an impactful tree plantation drive across its properties in India and Nepal. In total, the group planted 800 trees, underscoring its mission to create a greener and more responsible future for hospitality.
This pan-regional initiative reflects the brand’s long-standing eco-conscious values—emphasizing carbon footprint reduction, resource conservation, and nature restoration. Lords Hotels has also integrated sustainable practices such as energy and water management, plastic reduction, waste recycling, cleaning and sanitation protocols, and eco-friendly hydration systems across its portfolio.
“Our commitment to the environment goes beyond just one day. We aim to make a lasting positive impact on our planet,” said Mr. Pushpendra Bansal, Chief Operating Officer, Lords Hotels & Resorts.
The brand further encourages active involvement from guests, team members, and local communities, recognizing that real environmental progress stems from collective effort.
With a presence spanning 70 hotels in 57 destinations across three nations, Lords Hotels & Resorts continues to lead by example—elevating hospitality while staying rooted in its responsibility toward the planet.

In an inspiring display of environmental responsibility, JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar is setting new benchmarks in sustainable luxury. As a LEED-certified hotel, the property continues to lead by example with a comprehensive sustainability program that spans energy conservation, water efficiency, zero-waste operations, and plastic-free initiatives.
The hotel has adopted several advanced energy conservation technologies, including:
Heat regeneration through steam boiler flue gas
LED lighting integrated with smart control systems and occupancy sensors
Low-power hydropneumatic systems for efficient pressure management
Photovoltaic solar panels and a solar-powered cooling tower
Automated energy management systems
Demand-based HVAC controls that reduce power use without compromising guest comfort
These systems support a reduced energy consumption of 52 kW per occupied room while maintaining luxury standards.
Water-saving measures are equally robust, with:
Installation of low-flow faucets, showerheads, and other fixtures
Implementation of a rainwater harvesting system for resource conservation
The hotel’s water consumption is 0.6 KL per room per day, and its water footprint is 665 liters per available room, reflecting deep commitment to mindful use of this critical resource.
JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar proudly operates as a zero waste discharge hotel, aiming to divert all waste from landfills through recycling, reuse, and responsible disposal. The property also tracks and reports a carbon footprint of 23.8 kg per room night for 2023, highlighting its focus on transparency and environmental accountability.
In its latest innovation, the hotel launched the H2OPE initiative — a game-changing move to replace single-use plastic water bottles with reusable glass bottles. These are filled in-house using ozonized, purified water from a state-of-the-art treatment plant.
“The name H2OPE captures both the scientific essence of water and the emotional resonance of hope,” the team shared. “It's a call to action against plastic, driven by optimism and responsibility.”
Adding to its eco-conscious offerings, the hotel also features an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station, encouraging guests to make sustainable travel choices.
With 30% of its CAPEX allocated to sustainability, JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar is not only redefining eco-luxury in India’s hospitality sector but also paving the way for a more sustainable future—where comfort, innovation, and conservation go hand in hand.
