Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced the signing of a new resort in Barnala, Punjab, marking its latest addition to the Gateway brand. Known for its expansive hospitality network, IHCL is continuing to grow its presence in Tier II and III cities across India with this strategic move.
The new property, Gateway Barnala, will cover nine acres and feature a low-rise design with 100 villas and rooms. This unique resort will provide a blend of modern amenities, including an all-day diner, a specialty restaurant, a bar, a health center, and a gymnasium, catering to both leisure and business travelers. Additionally, the resort will house a 7,000ft² banquet hall and several meeting rooms, making it an ideal venue for corporate and social events.
Partnering with BRH Eaton, a real estate development company, IHCL aims to create a standout destination in Barnala. Lakhvir Singh, executive of BRH Eaton, expressed enthusiasm for the project, with plans to expand further into Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
Suma Venkatesh, IHCL’s executive vice-president of real estate and development, commented, “This signing is in line with our strategy of growing IHCL’s presence in Tier II and III cities in India. Barnala, a commercial and industrial center bordering Ludhiana, is an emerging market in Punjab, and we are delighted to partner with Lakhvir Singh for this project.”
The addition of Gateway Barnala will bring IHCL’s presence in Punjab to three hotels, further reinforcing the company’s expansion in the region. With 340 hotels worldwide, including 112 under development, IHCL continues to set the bar for excellence in the hospitality industry.
This new venture not only highlights IHCL’s growth strategy but also its commitment to providing world-class hospitality in emerging markets across India.
