Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) marked its inaugural presence in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, through the signing of a Vivanta hotel. Positioned in strategic proximity to Donyi Polo Airport, the 150-key hotel is a significant move in IHCL's strategy to establish a footprint in all state capitals. Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of IHCL, emphasized Itanagar's role as a major hub for culture, economy, education, and recreation. This new hotel, IHCL's second in Arunachal Pradesh, contributes to the development of a fresh circuit connecting Guwahati, Itanagar, and Tawang.

In collaboration with Taling Eichir Infra LLP, IHCL brings its signature hospitality to Itanagar. The hotel boasts a range of facilities, including a multi-cuisine restaurant, bar, swimming pool, health club, fitness center, and state-of-the-art banqueting space exceeding 6500 sq. ft., encompassing meeting rooms.

Joram Jumse, Partner at Taling Eichir Infra LLP, expressed delight in partnering with IHCL, recognizing the hospitality leader's reputation for pioneering destinations and putting them on the tourism map. This collaboration aims to infuse Vivanta's stylish spirit into Itanagar's hospitality landscape.

Nestled amidst the scenic beauty of Arunachal Pradesh, with the snowcapped Himalayas to the north and the mighty Brahmaputra to the south, Itanagar serves as a nature lover's paradise. Additionally, it plays a pivotal role as a transit point for travelers exploring the enchanting locales of Tawang, Ziro Valley, Pasighat, and Mechukha.

IHCL's foray into Itanagar enhances its Northeast India portfolio, bringing the total to nine hotels, including five under development. This strategic expansion aligns with IHCL's commitment to providing warm Indian hospitality and world-class service. The Indian Hotels Company Limited, founded by Jamsetji Tata, continues to uphold its legacy since the opening of its first hotel, The Taj Mahal Palace, in Bombay in 1903. Today, IHCL manages a global portfolio of 280 hotels, with 84 more in various stages of development across four continents, spanning 11 countries and over 100 locations. As India's largest hospitality company by market capitalization, IHCL remains listed on the BSE and NSE, setting new benchmarks in the industry.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation is setting its sights on nearly doubling its footprint in India, planning to reach 100 properties within the next 5-6 years. With India's hospitality market growing at an unprecedented rate, this ambitious target reflects Hyatt's dedication to catering to the surging demand for high-quality travel experiences across the country.

Currently, Hyatt operates 52 hotels in Southwest Asia (50 in India and two in Nepal) under nine distinct brands, having already crossed the 10,000-key milestone. “With our strong pipeline and strategic growth initiatives, we are confident that we will achieve the milestone of 100 hotels within the next 5-6 years,” stated Sunjae Sharma, Managing Director for India & Southwest Asia at Hyatt Hotels Corporation. This growth is part of Hyatt’s focused strategy, aiming to tap into India's expanding travel and hospitality market by delivering personalized, luxury, and lifestyle-focused experiences.

The expansion will see Hyatt introduce more global brands to India while reinforcing its core brands, such as Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Place, and Hyatt Centric. The company also recently introduced the ‘Grand Showroom’ at Grand Hyatt Mumbai, an innovative venture designed to enhance hyper-personalized guest experiences and showcase Hyatt’s diverse hospitality offerings.

In line with its expansion goals, Hyatt has slated Hyatt Regency properties in Kasauli and Ghaziabad and Hyatt Place hotels in Aurangabad and Haridwar. Expanding into new countries, Hyatt Place Dhaka Uttara will soon open in Bangladesh, and India will welcome The Unbound Collection in Bhopal in 2025, reflecting the brand’s increasing regional diversity.
