IHG Hotels & Resorts has once again set a benchmark in the hospitality industry by securing a perfect score of 100 on the 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. This accomplishment underlines IHG's unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace for LGBTQ+ employees, marking its ninth consecutive year of achieving this recognition in the US and the third in Mexico.
IHG's consistent high scores on the CEI reflect its dedication to implementing comprehensive policies, benefits, and practices that support LGBTQ+ workplace equality. The CEI rating criteria include non-discrimination policies, equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families, an inclusive culture, and corporate social responsibility. IHG's efforts in these areas showcase its proactive approach to ensuring equity and inclusion across its global operations.
"Providing room to belong is core to IHG’s culture," said Rani Hammond, Senior Vice-President of Human Resources, Americas, at IHG Hotels & Resorts. "Our business is fundamentally about people, and we take pride in the diverse and inclusive environment we've fostered. This recognition from the CEI is a testament to our ongoing commitment to LGBTQ+ workplace equality and the broader initiatives we support."
In 2023, IHG has taken significant steps to enhance its culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Among its initiatives are the Out & Open Employee Resource Group, supporting The Trevor Project, and sponsoring LGBTQ+ celebrations globally. The company has broadened its range of benefits in the US, addressing diverse employee needs, including medical plans for both same and opposite-sex spouses and family support programs for fertility assistance, surrogacy, and adoption.
Guided by its "Journey to Tomorrow" 2030 responsible business plan, IHG aims to achieve a gender balance in leadership positions, cultivate a culture of inclusion, and uphold human rights across its operations. IHG's strategic approach to DEI not only enhances its corporate reputation but also positions it as a leader in promoting workplace equality and inclusion within the hospitality industry and beyond.
As IHG continues to build on its progress towards LGBTQ+ workplace equality, the company remains committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all its employees, guests, and partners worldwide.
