India has been recognized as one of the top 10 most active countries during the 2024 World Wellness Weekend, a global event aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and overall well-being. The eighth edition of this event ran from September 20 to 22, involving 9,688 venues in 155 countries—a notable 54% increase from the previous year’s participation. Activities spanned from sunrise in Fiji to sunset in Maui, showcasing a unified global effort to prioritize health.
The event's reach expanded significantly, with over 1,000 new venues joining in the last four weeks leading up to the weekend. The participating locations were listed on wellmap.org, an interactive platform available in 18 languages, allowing people to find nearby activities such as fitness sessions, yoga, and massage workshops.
India stood out among countries like Spain, Italy, Brazil, Japan, and Mexico in terms of active participation. Marbella, Spain, led in venue numbers, while Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, offered the most diverse activities. Other active cities included Sao Paulo, Rome, and Buenos Aires.
World Wellness Weekend emphasized various categories: vitality, beauty, hospitality, holistic care, and longevity, covering fitness clubs, spas, hotels, wellness centers, and alternative therapy clinics. The 2024 event was also marked by new records: a 100% rise in estimated views (reaching 34 million) and social media engagement that attracted a potential audience of 3.5 billion—an impressive leap from the 430 million seen in 2023.
Highlights included the first-ever four-day wellness event, a Yoga Fest in Karatsu, Japan, supported by the city’s Town Hall. Portugal hosted the first “World Wellness Wedding,” showcasing the theme's versatility. Additionally, two renowned circus groups from Cambodia joined the weekend festivities, offering performances that highlighted the importance of well-being through art and movement.
World Wellness Weekend aligns with the World Health Organization’s efforts to address global issues like obesity, physical inactivity, and mental health. The event aims to reach beyond paying clients to include local communities and underserved groups, reinforcing the principle of #WellnessForAll. Throughout the year, the participating venues continue to appear on wellmap.org, encouraging ongoing community engagement and wellness activities.

Banyan Tree Spa Krabi has earned two major recognitions at the Thailand Tourism Awards, reaffirming its reputation as a leading name in wellness and sustainability.
The resort’s spa received the Thailand Tourism Outstanding Award in the Hotel and Resort category and the Thailand Tourism Sustainability Award in the Health and Wellness Tourism category. While it secured second place in both, the achievement highlights Banyan Tree Spa Krabi’s strong focus on authenticity, sustainability, and guest care. Its sister property, Banyan Tree Spa Samui, also ranked among the top five in Outstanding and top ten in Sustainability.
Often called the “Kinnaree Awards”, the Thailand Tourism Awards are organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and serve as a hallmark of excellence in the spa and hospitality industries.
“Our key strength lies in having a clear and distinctive concept,” said Montira Vichiankoo, Spa & Gallery Manager at Banyan Tree Spa Krabi. “Our treatments and wellbeing activities draw from Krabi’s heritage, using locally sourced ingredients such as coconut, turmeric and tamarind. Another important factor is our strong commitment to sustainability. We support the local community, and our team lives these values every day.”
Montira added that the spa prides itself on personalised care, from the signature Scent of the Day welcome ritual to tailored treatment recommendations and thoughtful self-care tips that extend beyond the spa visit.
The spa’s therapists, trained at the Banyan Spa & Wellbeing Academy in Phuket, deliver highly professional treatments across eight private suites, each with its own garden and calming “colour-calm” lighting.
Banyan Tree Spa Krabi also introduced the region’s first hydrotherapy facility, The Rainforest, featuring a full hydrothermal circuit with saunas, vitality pools, cold and hot plunge pools, steam rooms, and heated beds — designed to balance both body and mind.
The spa has already been named one of Thailand’s most luxurious by the MICHELIN Guide, which also awarded Banyan Tree Krabi 2 Keys in its hotel listings.
Beyond the spa, Banyan Tree Krabi offers 72 villas and suites, each with private infinity and jet pools facing the Andaman Sea. Guests can join the resort’s Wellbeing Sanctuary programme, which combines yoga, meditation, nature walks, and nutrition guidance under the expertise of Ayurvedic specialist Dr Subhash Shanbhag.
Recreational activities range from kayaking and paddleboarding to Thai boxing and hiking, while dining options highlight Thai flavours alongside international cuisine. With a blend of sustainability, authentic traditions, and personalised service, Banyan Tree Spa Krabi has carved out a leading position in Thailand’s luxury wellness scene, a fact now underlined by its latest wins at the Thailand Tourism Awards.

Amid the constant hum of urban life in Gurgaon, a serene sanctuary has quietly emerged, offering city-dwellers a place to pause, reflect, and heal. Eternal Oasis – A Centre for Arts, Culture, and Spirituality, located in Sector 42 along Golf Course Road, is fast becoming a vital retreat for those seeking deeper meaning, mindful living, and authentic community connections.
This August, Eternal Oasis is curating a series of transformative events designed to help residents reconnect with their inner selves. This weekend, the centre plays host to “Theatre for Healing” by Kanupriya Theatre Company, a deeply immersive experience crafted to help participants process emotional trauma, release suppressed anger, and combat isolation—issues that resonate strongly in the high-stress environment of modern cities.
Following this, the much-anticipated “Day of Nothingness” on August 15, curated by the Shoonya Festival, will offer an expansive day of introspection. The event promises guided meditations, breathwork journeys, sound healing sessions, a communal drum circle, and a quiet reflection space, all thoughtfully designed to create space for stillness, clarity, and presence.
India’s corporate sector has seen a surge in mental health challenges in recent years. According to Deloitte’s 2023 survey on mental health in the workplace, over 80% of Indian professionals report experiencing workplace-related stress, with Gurgaon topping the charts in emotional fatigue. Nearly 47% cited stress as the main factor affecting their mental well-being. The McKinsey Health Institute’s 2023 report also placed India at the highest global ranking for burnout symptoms, with 59% of respondents identifying with its effects.
“Centres like Eternal Oasis are the third spaces our cities desperately need,” shares Umesh Mathur, Founder of Eternal Oasis. “They are safe corners of the world where people can pause, breathe, feel, and simply be. In the age of endless noise and productivity, we need platforms that nurture the unseen dimensions of our health—emotional, mental, and spiritual. That’s what we are building here.”
In a time when the world is leaning toward slow, conscious living, Eternal Oasis stands as a gentle reminder of the power of presence. As Gurgaon residents navigate life in one of India’s most fast-paced urban centres, this soulful haven invites them to reconnect—with themselves, with each other, and with the simple joy of just being.
