Indian weddings are often a grand celebration of tradition, emotions, and family values, but planning them can be a herculean task. A recent survey conducted by The Wedding Company, an innovative wedding planning platform, sheds light on how Indian couples are navigating the complex journey of organizing their Big Day in 2024.
The survey reveals that 57% of couples find wedding planning extremely stressful, with an additional 20% labeling it moderately so. Balancing personal preferences with family traditions, while keeping the budget in check, adds to the challenge, making it one of the most demanding milestones in their lives.
Interestingly, 46% of Indian couples now choose to hire wedding planners, recognizing the value of professional assistance in managing multiple aspects like venue selection, decor, and vendor coordination. However, a majority—54%—still prefer to manage everything on their own, emphasizing their personal involvement and attachment to the process.
In this digital age, technology is transforming how weddings are planned. The survey reveals that 25% of couples are using wedding planning apps to connect with vendors and streamline the process, while a significant 60% stick to traditional methods, and 15% blend both approaches.
The survey highlights that venue selection is the most time-consuming and challenging task for 39% of couples, followed by choosing outfits (29%) and finding a wedding planner (22%). Surprisingly, only 10% of respondents consider decor as a major hurdle in planning their wedding.
Speaking about the survey findings, Mr. Pawan Gupta, CEO & Co-Founder of The Wedding Company, stated, "The findings of the survey exhibit a dynamic shift in how Indian couples approach planning for their Big Day. At The Wedding Company, we focus on offering innovative, customized wedding proposals within an hour, aligning with our customers' preferences. By integrating technology with exceptional customer service, we aim to simplify and enhance the wedding planning experience."
The survey emphasizes that while Indian weddings remain deeply rooted in tradition, couples are finding ways to blend modern trends with family expectations. From leveraging technology to embracing wedding planners, the planning process is evolving into a more practical and personalized journey.
The Wedding Company’s report not only highlights the challenges but also underscores the dynamic shifts shaping Indian weddings in 2024. Whether it’s stress, traditions, or technology, Indian couples are charting a new course for their Big Day with creativity and precision.
