India's passport ranking has seen significant improvement, moving up to the 80th spot in 2023 from 87th in 2022. This advancement grants Indian passport holders visa-free access to an impressive total of 57 countries. The latest Henley Passport Index reveals Singapore as the new holder of the world's most powerful passport, allowing its citizens to travel visa-free to 192 destinations worldwide.

Following closely, Germany, Italy, and Spain now share the second position with visa-free access to 190 destinations. Meanwhile, Japan's passport holders join six other nations, including Austria, Finland, France, Luxembourg, South Korea, and Sweden, in third place, offering access to 189 destinations without requiring a visa beforehand.

The Henley Passport Index rankings are based on the number of destinations accessible without a prior visa for each country's passport holders. The data is primarily derived from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

In contrast, India's neighbouring country, Pakistan, has the fourth weakest passport globally, granting visa-free access to only 33 countries. At the bottom of the Henley Openness Index, four countries hold the lowest rank, with no visa-free access for any passport: Afghanistan, North Korea, Papua New Guinea, and Turkmenistan.

For Indian passport holders, the list of 57 countries that can be visited without a visa includes various attractive destinations such as Barbados, Bhutan, Bolivia, Cambodia, Fiji, Indonesia, Jamaica, Jordan, Nepal, Oman, Rwanda, Thailand, Tunisia, and more.
