In a landmark achievement that underscores India's burgeoning influence in the global spirits market, Kadamba Single-Malt Whisky has been named the Best Indian Single-Malt at the prestigious World Whiskies Awards. This accolade not only celebrates the rich heritage of the Kadamba dynasty, which inspired the whisky's name and symbolises the Golden Age of Goa, but also places India on the map as a producer of world-class single-malt whiskies.
Held annually in England, the World Whiskies Awards is among the most anticipated events in the spirits industry, drawing entries from over 60 distilleries worldwide and involving a rigorous judging process of around 6,000 whiskies through blind tastings. The competition seeks to honour exceptional quality and craftsmanship in whisky production, with Kadamba emerging as a standout amidst a field of international contenders.
Kadamba's victory is a testament to its exquisite craftsmanship, incorporating the bountiful harvest of Indian barley-malt and achieving a unique zest that captivates with every sip. Aged in a mix of bourbon, sherry, and virgin American oak casks, Kadamba's Signature Expression delivers a complex, velvety, and full-bodied flavour profile, earning it top honours in its category.
The Cheers group, the distillery behind Kadamba, has expressed immense pride in this recognition, joining the ranks of esteemed global whisky brands such as Suntory, Red Breast, J.P Wiser, and Johnny Walker. Dr. Mohan Krishna, founder of the Cheers group, remarked on the significance of this achievement, emphasising the award as a pinnacle of quality in the ultra-premium single-malt sector. CEO Ashwin Balivada and Global Creative Director Divya Balivada also echoed these sentiments, highlighting the dedication to excellence that Kadamba represents.
This latest accolade for Kadamba Single-Malt Whisky not only affirms the Cheers group's commitment to unparalleled whisky artistry but also celebrates the global appreciation for India's rich whisky-making tradition. As Kadamba continues to garner international acclaim, it stands as a beacon of Indian single-malt whisky excellence, inviting connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike to explore the depth and diversity of India's spirit offerings.
