KYNKYNY Art Gallery is set to unveil "Ephemeral Homelands," a solo exhibition by celebrated contemporary artist Siddharth Shingade, offering art lovers a rare glimpse into the hidden stories of rural Maharashtra. Running from March 21 to April 18, 2025, the exhibition is a deeply personal exploration of Shingade’s roots in Tuljapur, Marathwada, where his childhood memories and cultural traditions come to life on canvas.

Art That Breathes Life into Memories

Shingade’s works are richly textured, poetic narratives that blend mythology, rural traditions, and contemporary themes. His acrylics on canvas reflect a profound connection to the land, featuring figures that merge seamlessly with the landscape, their dark, soil-toned complexions symbolizing an inseparable bond with nature.

The paintings in "Ephemeral Homelands" mark a shift in Shingade’s artistic approach, with a brighter palette infused with sunflower yellows and ocean blues, bringing a sense of hope and renewal. Inspired by the intricate patchwork quilts of nomadic gypsy women, his artworks are structured like embroidered "chaddars," filled with meticulous detailing and symbolic storytelling.

"My work is a tribute to the nameless, faceless, and often voiceless people of India's rural heartlands—resilient souls who carry wisdom, endurance, and an unbreakable connection to the land," says Siddharth Shingade.

A Celebration of Rural Resilience

While capturing the rustic beauty of Marathwada, Shingade’s paintings also reflect the hardships faced by its people, living in drought-prone and ecologically fragile landscapes. His subjects, though deeply rooted in rural life, are often portrayed as mythological or divine, blending realism with spirituality.
