Singaporean cat owners have a new way to pamper their feline friends - luxury sunset cruises! Onboard the Royal Albatross tall ship, up to 15 cats and 130 human passengers can enjoy a two-and-a-half-hour cruise along Sentosa Island's coast. The cats lounge in custom-built "cat-bana" cages while their owners savor a four- or seven-course dinner on deck. The cat-friendly sailings were introduced this month following the success of dog cruises in 2021.
The cruises provide picturesque views of Singapore's skyline and conclude with a short fireworks display. Marissa Ng, a human resources professional, remarked that her five-year-old ragdolls, Coco and Bobo, were enjoying the experience, relishing the view and the sense of freedom.
Tall Ship Adventures, the company operating the cruises, consulted with experts and animal welfare organizations to ensure the safety of the cats on board. Precautions include securely harnessing and leashing the cats at all times, vaccination and sterilization requirements, and transporting the cats in carriers when boarding.
While dogs on the cruises are served a three-course meal at the table, cat owners take their pets' meals home since cats tend to be more selective about food outside their comfort zone. The cat cruises are quickly gaining popularity, with over 200 tickets for human passengers already sold at SGD 225 (approximately USD 166) each.
The success of both dog and cat cruises highlights the desire of pet owners to create unique experiences for their animal companions. Singapore's pet-friendly cruises provide a memorable adventure for both pets and their owners, offering a perfect way to spend quality time together while enjoying the scenic beauty of Sentosa Island.
Whether you have a cat or a dog, these luxury cruises offer a one-of-a-kind opportunity to bond with your beloved pet while taking in the stunning sights of Singapore's coastline. If you're planning a trip to Singapore and want to treat your pet to a memorable experience, consider booking one of these unique cruises for a shared adventure you'll both cherish.
