The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board has launched the fourth edition of the Skydiving Festival in Ujjain, aimed at expanding adventure tourism within the region. Building on the success of the previous three festivals, this year’s event offers thrill-seekers the chance to experience skydiving from a height of 10,000 feet over Ujjain’s scenic and spiritual landscapes. The festival, which began on November 9, 2024, will run for three months, ending on February 9, 2025.
Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary of the Tourism and Culture Department and Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, expressed excitement about this year's festival, stating, “Madhya Pradesh is an offbeat multispecialty destination of first choice and has set astounding tourist footfall records. The sky diving festival in Ujjain’s spiritual land will offer thrill and entertainment once again.” This extended event is expected to draw in over 1,000 participants, who will get a unique view of Ujjain’s sacred cityscape from above.
The festival is organized by Sky-high India, which has equipped a Cessna 182P aircraft for this event. With a capacity of six people, the aircraft will take two participants and two instructors per jump, ensuring a balanced and controlled experience. The company is certified by both the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the United States Parachute Association (USPA), promising high safety standards for participants.
Sky-high India’s team of skilled instructors will guide participants throughout the freefall, allowing them to safely enjoy the aerial view of iconic landmarks like the Mahakaleshwar Temple.
Skydiving slots are available daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and adventure enthusiasts can book their jumps through Sky-high India’s website at www.skyhighindia.com. The event venue, Datana Airstrip, overlooks Ujjain, and is easily accessible by local rail and road networks, with the nearest international airport in Indore, located 54 kilometers away.
With a goal to become a leading destination for adventure tourism, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board is already considering additional aerial activities for future events, based on the positive response from tourists and the steady increase in participation. The board hopes that this event will position Madhya Pradesh as a key adventure tourism hub in India, inviting adventure lovers to explore the state’s diverse offerings from a thrilling new perspective.
