In a celebratory event at The Ashok Hotel in New Delhi, Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Singh honoured India’s champions in hospitality skills, who showcased their talents at the prestigious WorldSkills competition in Lyon, France. The ceremony recognized not only the winners but also their expert mentors for their significant contributions in elevating India’s reputation in the global hospitality sector.
The event saw the attendance of distinguished dignitaries, including Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, MSDE; Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Managing Director of NSDC International; as well as Jyoti Mayal, Chairperson, and Rajan Bahadur, CEO, Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council of India (THSC). Expressing pride in the achievements of the participants, these leaders underscored the impact of skilled professionals in representing India on the world stage.
Reflecting on the champions' success, THSC’s CEO Rajan Bahadur stated, “The success of our champions at WorldSkills is not just a testament to their individual talent and hard work but also a reflection of the commitment to excellence within the Indian hospitality sector. Their achievements on the global stage inspire us all, showcasing the immense potential of our skilled workforce. We must continue to invest in and support these talented individuals as they pave the way for the future of hospitality in India.”
Supporting a Skilled Workforce
The Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), established in 2014 by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and NSDC, is dedicated to skilling India’s workforce across various sectors within hospitality, including hotels, tour operators, restaurants, facilities management, and cruise lines. Through collaborations with government bodies, industry associations, and training institutes, THSC aims to build a robust ecosystem for skill development, enabling India’s skilled professionals to excel both nationally and internationally.
This recognition event not only celebrated the achievements of the champions but also highlighted India's potential in the global hospitality arena, inspiring the next generation of skilled professionals to uphold India’s standards of excellence worldwide.
