Destination weddings are becoming a favored choice among urban Indian couples, with 48% citing cost affordability as a primary factor, according to a recent survey conducted by Betterhalf, India’s leading matrimony super-app. This trend challenges the conventional belief that destination weddings are lavish and overly expensive.
The survey explored the preferences of eligible bachelors and to-be-wed couples, revealing that nearly half are opting for destination weddings. "Our findings indicate that destination weddings, despite their grandeur, are increasingly viewed as economically feasible options for our diverse population," stated Pawan Gupta, Co-founder and CEO of Betterhalf.
The shift towards these budget-friendly ceremonies is being facilitated by the growing reliance on online wedding planning platforms, which are now preferred by 38% of couples over traditional wedding planners. These platforms leverage extensive networks of vendors to offer quality services that adhere to strict budgetary constraints.
Couples are not only looking to these platforms for venue and vendor bookings but also for comprehensive services including travel arrangements and on-site event coordination. This integrated approach helps in maintaining quality while ensuring that the weddings are cost-effective.
"Budget played a crucial role for 72 percent of urban professionals we surveyed," added Gupta. "This shows the significant impact of economic considerations in planning one's wedding day."
Betterhalf's survey highlights a significant shift in how weddings are being planned in India, with a focus on achieving dream weddings without the financial strain. This evolving landscape indicates that destination weddings can indeed be both enchanting and economical, making them accessible to a broader audience.
As destination weddings continue to rise in popularity among urban Indian couples, platforms like Betterhalf are crucial in making these dream events both attainable and affordable. This trend is expected to grow as more couples seek memorable yet economically viable options for their special day.
