IHG Hotels & Resorts, a global hospitality leader, recently announced exciting developments in Europe during the HOTCO conference. The company signed agreements for two significant properties—Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale in Hungary and voco Stockholm Kista in Sweden.
Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale:
Scheduled to open in late 2026, this 170-room property will be located in Budapest's XIV district, directly above the Puskas Ferenc Stadion metro station. The strategic location places it amidst Budapest's main sports, entertainment, and cultural hub, with attractions like the Puskas Arena, Papp Laszlo events hall, and more nearby.
The hotel, part of a mixed-use development, will offer 25 long-stay suites with kitchenettes, an Open Lobby, restaurant, lobby bar, meeting room, and fitness center. Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale will also feature IHG's signature offerings, such as Kids Stay and Eat Free. IHG is proud to collaborate with trusted partners, Chain Bridge Ventures Kft. and Mogotel Hotel Group, on this project.
Mrs. Willemijn Geels, VP Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed her delight, saying, “We’re delighted to have signed Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale – an agreement that brings our first '& Suites' offer to Europe for our Holiday Inn brand, offering a longer-stay option in the heart of the capital. The hotel will be located in a very popular area of Budapest and will provide guests with the perfect base from which to enjoy everything the Hungarian capital has to offer.”
voco Stockholm Kista:
IHG is making a strong comeback to the Swedish market with the signing of voco Stockholm Kista. Expected to open in the second half of 2024, this 201-room property is situated in Kista, known as Sweden's Silicon Valley. It will be adjacent to the Nordic Forum, a significant office redevelopment.
The voco brand, characterized by its individual charm and character, has gained momentum since its 2018 launch. The Stockholm Kista property will feature five personalized meeting and event spaces, a restaurant, lobby bar, fitness room, rooftop spa with an indoor swimming pool, and a rooftop garden.
Mrs. Willemijn Geels highlighted the growth of the voco brand, stating, “We have seen significant growth momentum with our voco hotels brand since it launched in 2018 and this signing reinforces that we are on our way to reaching the brand’s global ambition of 200 properties in leading urban and leisure locations by 2028.”
Both developments align with IHG's commitment to providing unique and memorable hospitality experiences. These properties, each with its distinctive offerings, contribute to IHG's diverse portfolio and showcase the brand's continuous expansion in key European markets.

Sterling Kodai Valley has rolled out its new cycle-themed suites, adding a refreshing twist to how guests experience the hill station. Known for creating stays that reflect the soul of a destination, Sterling has once again built something that feels both playful and deeply connected to the outdoorsy charm of Kodaikanal.
Slow travel has become one of the biggest trends in global tourism, with more travellers now choosing unhurried holidays over packed schedules. To keep the sense of exploration alive outside the rooms, the resort has added new experiences to its Discoveries and Experiences programme. These include a night jeep ride through quiet trails, an off-road trip to Puliyur Kombai and guided treks covering shola forests, waterfalls and scenic viewpoints. Evenings often turn cosy with bonfires and outdoor dinners. The resort has also introduced “Crispy Tales at Kodai,” where guests handpick vegetables, learn Murukku making and cook with the chef making meals more fun and hands-on.

Hotel Broadway, one of Delhi’s most loved heritage hotels, has completed 70 years and reopened as part of the Alivaa Collection. The property, which first came up in 1956, has been refreshed with a new look while keeping its old-world charm intact. For three generations, the hotel has been a warm and familiar stay for guests, and the relaunch aims to carry that legacy forward.
Just minutes away from Connaught Place and Old Delhi, the hotel sits in a sweet spot that connects guests to both the historic and modern sides of the city. The newly done-up rooms feature Indian art and photography, with a few spaces styled by artist Catherine Levy, known for her playful take on Indian pop and kitsch culture. The serene courtyard adds a cosy place for guests to relax with tea, cool drinks, or a quiet read. The hotel also continues to house the legendary Chor Bizarre, a restaurant that has been a favourite for 35 years.
The story of Hotel Broadway began when Mr. Tirath Ram Amla bought the land thinking he could build a winter home but ended up constructing a full hotel after discovering the terms. He entrusted architect A. P. Kanvinde, who had just returned from Harvard, to design the building. When the Art Deco–inspired hotel opened, it introduced several firsts for Delhi, including what was considered one of the earliest lifts in the city. Rooms with bed and breakfast were priced at Rs 15 for singles and Rs 42 for doubles rates that now feel like a slice of history.
Reflecting on the milestone moment, Rohit Khattar, Founder Chairman of Old World Hospitality, shared, “Reopening Hotel Broadway on its 70th anniversary is deeply special for us. My grandfather Mr. Tirath Ram Amla built it with great love in 1956, and my mother Mrs. Vijay Lakshmii Khattar operated it with great care till 2020.
