Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre (NHCC) & Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) have made a significant stride in sustainability with the installation of a state-of-the-art solar power system. Spanning 48,904 square feet, the system comprises 1,818 solar panels with a 1000 KWp capacity, generating 4,000 units per day and 1,460,000 units annually—meeting 50% of HICC’s energy needs.
By embracing renewable energy, this initiative will reduce CO2 emissions by 1,022 tons per year, reinforcing NHCC & HICC’s commitment to responsible hospitality.
The solar installation represents an investment of INR 2.6 crores, with projected annual savings of INR 1.17 crores. Remarkably, the system is set to achieve a return on investment (ROI) in just 2.22 years, making it both an economically and environmentally sound decision.
Rubin Cherian, General Manager, Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre & HICC, emphasized the significance of this initiative:
"The installation of our solar power system is not merely about adopting renewable energy; it signifies a deeper commitment to pioneering a greener future for our industry, our city, our country, and our planet. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do, reflecting Accor’s global ethos of responsible hospitality. By embracing innovative solutions, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint but also setting a benchmark for sustainable operations in the hospitality sector."
The solar panel installation is part of a broader sustainability strategy at NHCC & HICC, integrating eco-friendly solutions into daily operations. Key initiatives include:
With 287 rooms and a 65,000 sq. ft. pillar-less convention centre, NHCC & HICC continue to set new benchmarks in sustainable hospitality. Their commitment to energy efficiency, waste reduction, and responsible water management reflects Accor’s global sustainability vision, paving the way for a greener future in hospitality.
