On2Cook, an Ahmedabad-based deep-tech startup, has won the German Innovation Award 2025, a major recognition presented by the prestigious German Design Council. The award ceremony was held at Deutsche Technikmuseum in Berlin, honouring global innovations that demonstrate real-world impact and future-forward technology.

The award places On2Cook among an elite group of global innovators and highlights India’s growing presence in the deep-tech space. Unlike traditional design awards, the German Innovation Award focuses on six strict parameters: innovation, user benefit, market readiness, economic viability, technical and design quality, and sustainability. With jury members from technology, business, design, and academia, the recognition is seen as a strong industry endorsement.

On2Cook’s patented appliance is designed for both speed and efficiency. By combining induction searing, microwave volumetric heating, and AI-powered sensor control, the appliance reduces cooking time by up to 70% and energy usage by 50%. Independent lab tests confirm that it retains nutrients better and delivers consistent flavour and texture.

Currently used in over 50 commercial kitchens across India, the US, and the Middle East, the appliance replaces multiple machines, allowing chefs to work faster and businesses to scale more efficiently.

“This recognition is a validation of not just our patents, but our mission to make sustainable, intelligent cooking the global norm,” said Sanandan Sudhir, Inventor & CEO of On2Cook. “It shows that world-class hardware innovation can be conceived and engineered in India,” he added.

The award is timely as On2Cook prepares for its Series A funding round. It boosts the startup’s credibility with investors, European distributors, and regulatory bodies, strengthening its global expansion and export plans.

For Sanandan and Jyoti Sudhir, Co-Founders of both On2Cook and InventIndia, this win is the result of years of belief in human-centred design and purpose-driven technology. From starting the venture in Ahmedabad to receiving global recognition, their journey reflects the resilience and rising potential of Indian startups to shape global industries.

IndiGoReach, the CSR arm of IndiGo, and InterGlobe Foundation, the philanthropic arm of InterGlobe Enterprises, jointly hosted an engaging ‘My City My Heritage’ walk in Ahmedabad. The event, titled “Tracing Stories Through the Lanes of Old Ahmedabad”, offered participants an immersive journey into the city’s vibrant past and living heritage, showcasing its cultural and historical richness.

The three-hour heritage walk began at the iconic Ahmed Shah Mosque and concluded at Manek Chowk, leading participants through bustling squares, narrow lanes, historic homes, and traditional pols. Curated to provide a holistic experience, the trail highlighted the layered architectural beauty and cultural legacy of Ahmedabad. The walk was guided by heritage expert Khushi Shah, who brought alive the stories of the city, drawing enthusiastic participation from the local community, government officials, and senior leadership of both IndiGo and InterGlobe Foundation.

‘My City My Heritage’ is an ongoing initiative launched by InterGlobe Foundation in collaboration with Sahapedia. The campaign is dedicated to raising awareness about India’s diverse cultural and historical legacy through immersive experiences and meaningful partnerships. It aims to inspire citizens to rediscover and take pride in their communities while promoting the preservation of both tangible and intangible heritage.

As part of the campaign, heritage walks have been successfully conducted across eight cities, including Prayagraj, Bhubaneswar, Shillong, Nashik, Hyderabad, Kozhikode, Lucknow, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Each walk celebrates the unique cultural fabric of its region and fosters a deeper connection to India’s diverse heritage.

Speaking on the occasion, Rohini Bhatia, Chairperson of InterGlobe Foundation, said, “Our 'My City My Heritage' walk in Ahmedabad provided a unique opportunity for participants to connect with the city's soul, appreciate its layered past, and engage with the vibrant communities that continue to bring its history to life. Through fostering community participation and highlighting Ahmedabad's unique marvels, our aim is to cultivate a deeper appreciation for its cultural heritage and promote tourism that directly benefits the local economy.”

Both InterGlobe Foundation and IndiGoReach continue to support projects for cultural preservation across India. InterGlobe Foundation has been involved in major initiatives such as the conservation and revival of Abdur Rahim Khan-I-Khanan’s mausoleum in Delhi, cultural mapping of ten cities, restoration of the Indra Kund stepwell in Delwara, and heritage fellowships. IndiGoReach has supported conservation efforts at Qutb Shah’s Mausoleum in Hyderabad and the restoration of Lal Bagh Palace interiors in Indore.

Delhi Govt Plans Single-Window Clearance to Boost Global Cultural Hub Vision

Delhi Govt Plans Single-Window Clearance to Boost Global Cultural Hub Vision

The Delhi government is drafting a new tourism policy aimed at transforming the capital into a global cultural hub by easing licensing procedures and encouraging large-scale cultural events. A key highlight of the policy is the proposed single-window clearance system for festivals, concerts, exhibitions, and other cultural gatherings.

Currently, organisers must obtain multiple approvals from various departments, including no-objection certificates from the local police, traffic police, fire department, and food licences from civic bodies, often leading to months of delays. Recognising these challenges, the government has assured stakeholders that the new policy will overhaul the approval process.

Tourism and culture minister Kapil Mishra said, “The new policy aims to change this by introducing a single-window clearance system, which will allow applicants to apply online, track the progress of their applications and receive approvals within a fixed timeframe.” He added that streamlining events will boost businesses and create wider economic benefits.

In addition to ease of licensing, the draft policy proposes subsidised venues for festivals that showcase Delhi’s heritage, food, performing arts, and crafts. Spaces under government jurisdiction, such as Dilli Haat (INA, Pitampura, Janakpuri), Garden of Five Senses, Thyagraj Stadium, and Chhatrasal Stadium are being considered for expanded cultural use.

Officials said the policy draws inspiration from successful global and domestic models, including the Jaipur Literature Festival, Goa’s international events, and Edinburgh’s cultural calendar. The goal is to create a year-round cultural calendar that appeals to both domestic and international tourists. To support this vision, the government will encourage corporate sponsorships, partnerships with hospitality players, and collaborations with international cultural organisations, ensuring Delhi diversifies its tourism offerings beyond monuments and seasonal attractions.

“Our objective is to create an enabling environment where organisers feel encouraged to expand the scale and quality of their events,” Mishra emphasised.

With this policy, Delhi hopes to not only cut red tape but also establish itself as a vibrant, globally recognised cultural destination.
