OYO, the global hospitality technology platform, has unveiled a strategic plan to enhance tourism in Rameswaram. Recognizing the town's religious significance, OYO aims to showcase Rameswaram as a major tourist attraction while preserving its rich cultural heritage. The iconic Ramanathaswamy Temple is a highlight, drawing spiritual seekers and pilgrims. However, Rameswaram offers more, such as the Pamban Bridge and pristine beaches for historical exploration and beach activities.

The initiative focuses on creating economic opportunities for locals beyond natural resources. This includes developing homestays, water sports, marine exploration, walking trails, and outdoor camping. By year-end, OYO plans to introduce 50 hotels and homestays in Rameswaram and Ramanathapuram, with many homestays near Ramanathaswamy Temple.

OYO will train homestay owners to enhance guest experiences, operate efficiently, and leverage marketing tools. Workshops will improve hospitality skills, technology use, and destination promotion. Additionally, OYO aims to co-develop nature and marine walking trails to showcase Rameswaram's cultural diversity.

Ritesh Agarwal, founder & CEO of OYO, expressed excitement about contributing to Rameswaram's tourism growth. He emphasized OYO's commitment to collaborating with authorities, stakeholders, and the community for effective implementation of the plan.
