Global hospitality technology company OYO has reported a 20% year-on-year (YoY) growth in summer holiday bookings. The highest surge came from Coorg, which recorded a massive 480% growth, followed by Tirupati (84%), Vishakhapatnam (82%), and Kochi (77%).
These insights are based on booking trends between April and June 2025 (Q1 FY26), reflecting a strong preference for family vacations and group travel. Religious tourism also emerged as a key driver of bookings.
Travelers opted for short-haul trips to favourites like Shimla, Nainital, Manali, Mussoorie, and Pondicherry. Offbeat destinations such as Chikmagalur, Pachmarhi, Mount Abu, and Lansdowne also gained traction among domestic tourists.
The growth was further fueled by two extended weekends in April, Mahavir Jayanti and Vaisakhi (April 10–13), and Good Friday and Easter (April 18–20). Other key weekends like Buddha Purnima (May 10–12) and Eid-ul-Adha (June 6–8) also saw increased demand, especially across North India.
OYO Total Holidays, the brand’s integrated travel services platform, also contributed to this growth by offering seamless travel solutions. The platform includes strategic tie-ups with airlines, transport services, top-rated restaurants, and certified guides, enhancing the travel experience.
Commenting on the performance, Varun Jain, Chief Operating Officer of OYO, said, “The growth is an outcome of our sustained expansion efforts in key leisure markets and a sharpened focus on premium and family travel segments. With an enhanced portfolio of more than 1300 company-serviced hotels, OYO is well-positioned to sustain this momentum through the upcoming festive and winter travel seasons.”
As part of its summer strategy, OYO also rolled out complimentary stays at over 1,100 company-serviced hotels in popular holiday destinations, encouraging repeat visits and boosting bookings.
This travel push aligns with the government's domestic tourism initiatives by making travel more accessible and affordable. Through its expanding hotel network in tier-2 and leisure destinations, OYO is helping spread tourism beyond metro cities.
The brand’s tech-led booking platform offers ease and reliability for families, solo travelers, and women groups, complementing initiatives like Swadesh Darshan and UDAN to boost regional tourism.
