The World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (the Alliance) has announced the appointment of Peter Andrews as its new Director of Programmes & Chief of Staff. Known for his expertise in sustainability, consumer insights, and ethical trade, Andrews’ leadership is set to strengthen the Alliance’s mission to drive sustainable transformation across the global hospitality sector.

A Proven Leader in Sustainability

Peter Andrews brings a rich legacy of achievements in advancing sustainability and ethical practices. His tenure as Director of Consumer Rights, Innovation & Impact at Consumers International saw him spearheading initiatives on sustainable consumption, energy transition, and the future of food, amplifying the consumer voice on global challenges.

During his time as Head of Sustainability Policy at the British Retail Consortium, Andrews led the creation of the industry's first Climate Action Roadmap, setting an ambitious Net Zero emissions target by 2040. His work also played a pivotal role in shaping the UN’s Race to Zero: Breakthroughs Retail Campaign, further demonstrating his ability to drive systems change.

Ethical Leadership and Advocacy

Andrews’ dedication to social justice is evident in his role as a Trustee of the charity Focus on Labour Exploitation and his co-chairing of the UK Government Home Office’s Modern Slavery Strategy and Implementation Group on Transparency in Supply Chains. Through these roles, he has championed corporate accountability and ethical practices, underscoring his commitment to addressing pressing global issues.

In his new role at the Alliance, Andrews will lead the development and execution of programmes such as:

Bhatia’s career has been shaped by hands-on leadership across diverse premium hospitality environments, where he has played a key role in refining outlet operations, developing beverage-led concepts, and managing the complexities of large-scale banqueting. Known for balancing operational discipline with creative expression, his approach focuses on delivering consistent, elevated guest experiences that reflect both brand standards and authentic hospitality.

In his new role, Bhatia will oversee the full spectrum of food and beverage operations at the resort, including restaurant outlets, bars, in-room dining, and events. His mandate includes strengthening guest engagement through thoughtful menu curation, service refinement, and the integration of local culinary narratives presented through contemporary formats.

Drawing inspiration from Uttarakhand’s rich culinary heritage, Bhatia plans to incorporate regional ingredients and flavours into offerings that celebrate the destination while appealing to a global audience. The Westin Resort & Spa, Himalayas has announced the appointment of Vivek Pandey as its new director of food and beverage, further strengthening the resort’s leadership team. With more than 15 years of experience in luxury hospitality, Pandey brings a strong background in restaurant management, large-scale events, and guest-centric food and beverage operations.

Pandey began his hospitality journey at Hyatt Regency Kolkata, where he spent close to a decade building his expertise across operations and events. He later expanded his experience at Park Hyatt Goa and Grand Hyatt Mumbai, gaining deeper exposure to premium dining and service standards. His career progression continued at Hyatt Regency Dehradun, where he handled larger responsibilities as event operations manager, before moving to JW Marriott Mumbai as banquet manager, overseeing high-profile events and complex banquet functions.

Most recently, Pandey served as assistant director of food and beverage at Hyatt Regency Dehradun. In this role, he was closely involved in driving culinary innovation, improving service delivery, and nurturing team development, contributing to overall operational growth.

In his new role at The Westin Resort & Spa, Himalayas, Pandey will focus on enhancing the resort’s Unique Dining Experiences (UDEs) through refined concepts, compelling storytelling, and carefully curated guest journeys. He will also work on building a strong non-resident dining strategy, positioning the resort’s restaurants and bars as preferred choices for local diners, while encouraging a work culture that supports associate wellbeing, engagement, and long-term growth.
