PM Modi Unveils 52 Tourism Projects, Igniting India's Tourism Renaissance

India’s rich cultural tapestry has long captivated travelers worldwide. In a bid to bolster the nation’s tourism sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled a remarkable 52 tourism infrastructure projects, valued at over Rs 1400 crores. These initiatives, developed under the Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD schemes, promise to redefine the visitor experience across the country.

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated nine tourism infrastructure projects worth Rs. 469 Crore via Video Conferencing from Srinagar. These projects span diverse regions, promising unique experiences for travelers. Additionally, 43 other projects totaling Rs. 963 Crore were launched, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing tourism infrastructure.

The unveiled projects encompass a range of interventions aimed at enriching the visitor experience, including pilgrim facilitation centers, ghat development, and sound & light shows. Notable initiatives span pilgrimage and heritage sites across various states, showcasing India’s cultural diversity and promoting local economies through tourism-led development.

Complementing infrastructure projects are visionary campaigns such as the ‘Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice 2024’ initiative, inviting citizens to participate in a nationwide poll to identify preferred tourist attractions. Additionally, the Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign aims to harness the Indian diaspora's strength in promoting India as a premier tourist destination.

Recognizing the importance of sustainable tourism, the Ministry of Tourism has formulated the Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD) scheme. This innovative approach seeks to develop destinations through competition, convergence, and strategic alignment with India’s tourism priorities, ensuring long-term viability and resilience.

The unveiling of Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0 marks a milestone in India’s tourism journey, focusing on integrated destination development. By leveraging each destination's unique offerings, Swadesh Darshan 2.0 aims to drive economic growth and create employment opportunities.

Prime Minister Modi’s call for tourists to support local communities underscores the importance of responsible tourism practices. By patronizing local artisans and businesses, travelers can contribute to inclusive growth and empowerment.
