Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently delivered a video message at the G20 Tourism Ministers' Meet held in Goa. During his address, he highlighted India's tourism potential and the country's unique approach to welcoming guests from around the world.

PM Modi mentioned that India's tourism philosophy is rooted in the ancient Sanskrit verse 'Atithi Devo Bhavah,' which means 'Guest is God.' He shared that as part of India's G20 presidency, the country is hosting nearly 200 meetings in 100 different locations, ensuring each experience is distinct and memorable.

The Prime Minister emphasized India's focus on preserving its rich heritage while developing top-notch infrastructure for tourism. He highlighted the popularity of spiritual tourism in India, pointing out the remarkable growth in the number of pilgrims visiting Varanasi, an eternal city known for its spiritual significance.

PM Modi also mentioned the creation of new tourist attractions, such as the Statue of Unity, the tallest statue in the world, which has already attracted millions of visitors within a year of its inauguration. He expressed India's recognition of the tourism sector's importance in achieving Sustainable Development Goals.

Highlighting the unifying power of tourism, PM Modi stated, "Terrorism divides, but tourism unites." He emphasized how tourism has the potential to bring people together from all walks of life, fostering harmony and understanding. He expressed his satisfaction with the development of the G20 Tourism dashboard, a platform in partnership with UNWTO, aimed at sharing best practices, case studies, and inspiring stories.

PM Modi concluded by stating that the motto of India's G20 Presidency, "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" (One Earth, One Family, One Future), perfectly aligns with the spirit of global tourism. He expressed confidence that the discussions and the "Goa Roadmap" would amplify collective efforts to harness the transformative power of tourism.
