The Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH) has appointed Mr. Puneet Chhatwal as their Chairman, succeeding Mr. Nakul Anand, who retired from the HAI Executive Committee, thus relinquishing his FAITH position. The transition, effective immediately, was announced by Mr. Rajiv Mehra, Honorary Secretary of FAITH.
Mr. Chhatwal, also the Managing Director and CEO of IHCL (Indian Hotels Company Limited), brings extensive experience and a profound understanding of the tourism and hospitality industry to his new role. In his capacity as Chairman, he pledges to lead FAITH in becoming a robust policy advocacy body for issues in the sector. "With the backing of all members, I aim to continue FAITH's legacy and contribute to the advancement of the Tourism and Hospitality industry," stated Mr. Chhatwal.
The Board expressed deep appreciation for Mr. Anand's service and extended best wishes for his future endeavors.
Several national tourism and hotel associations, including HAI, the Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India, and The Federation of Hotels & Restaurant Associations of India, are part of FAITH.
Mr. Chhatwal's appointment as FAITH Chairman aligns with his role as the President of the Hotel Association of India (HAI), to which he was re-elected in 2022. This dual role positions him strategically to advocate for the industry's interests and uphold FAITH's mission.
Looking ahead to 2024, optimism pervades the Indian hotel industry despite global challenges and impending elections. The sector anticipates sustained growth, fueled by niche tourism segments such as religious and spiritual tourism, cruise tourism, and medical tourism. The government's renewed commitment and focus on infrastructure development set the stage for enduring progress.
Mr. Chhatwal's vision, supported by FAITH members, aims to fortify the organization's impact on policy decisions, ensuring a vibrant future for the Indian Tourism and Hospitality industry.
