Punjab, renowned for its warm hospitality and mouthwatering cuisine, took center stage at the 1st Tourism Summit and Travel Mart 2023, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and organized by the Punjab Tourism & Culture Affairs department and Invest Punjab. The event aimed to serve up Punjab's traditional flavors to entice global travelers to the state.

One of the highlights of the event was a panel discussion on “Amritsar’s Hinterland and Culinary Tourism”. Rakhee Gupta Bhandari, Principal Secretary of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, emphasized Punjab's culinary prowess and highlighted lesser-known local delicacies that deserve global recognition.

Himanshu Rattan, Partner at KPMG and session moderator, shed light on the potential of Amritsar's culinary traditions to attract travelers seeking authentic and immersive experiences. From the world-famous Amritsari kulcha to hidden regional gems, Amritsar's rich history in food and culture was celebrated.

Renowned Chef Manjit Singh Gill, President of the Indian Federation of Culinary Association, stressed the importance of reviving traditional Punjabi food. He called for documenting Punjabi cuisine to elevate it to the next level and inspire future chefs.

Anmol Gagan Maan, Tourism Minister, Punjab, shared insights into thematic circuits in Punjab, including devotional, border tourism, and wellness. She emphasized the state's commitment to promoting water and adventure tourism and empowering women in the tourism sector.

The Tourism Summit's inauguration, attended by industry leaders and tourism enthusiasts, marked a significant step in Punjab's journey to become a premier global tourist destination. Chief Minister Mann expressed his vision for Punjab as a prime tourist hotspot, highlighting the state's potential and passion for success.

As Punjab's tourism sector continues to evolve, the 1st Tourism Summit and Travel Mart 2023 promises to be a catalyst for growth and a testament to Punjab's rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality.
