Rasanai is bringing together the diverse flavours of South Indian street food with The Great Saiva Festival, an all-vegetarian culinary celebration being hosted across its outlets in Chennai, Coimbatore and Kochi until September 30, 2026.

The festival brings together flavours inspired by Tamil, Kannadiga, Andhra/Telugu and Malayali cuisines, presenting regional favourites in an authentic street-food format while exploring the variety of vegetarian food traditions across South India.

South Indian street food has long been shaped by local ingredients, temple-town culinary traditions and cooking techniques such as fermentation, tempering and slow roasting. The Great Saiva Festival aims to spotlight these traditions through a menu that brings different regional influences together under one culinary experience.

The menu features dishes including Periyakadai Veethi Javvarisi Bonda with Kara Chutney, Saiva Eeral Varuval, Bunglow Saiva Meen Varuval, Mangalore Buns with Mock Chicken Gassi and Rose Badam Kalalandu Pongal, among other preparations.

A distinctive element of the festival is its selection of plant-based mock meat and seafood dishes, designed to recreate some of the char, spice, texture and character associated with familiar non-vegetarian street-food preparations while remaining entirely vegetarian.

The menu draws inspiration from a range of regional food traditions, moving from shopping-street bondas and Malabar tapioca cutlets to Mangalorean ghee roasts and Chettinad-style chutneys. The resulting spread brings together different culinary identities from across South India in a single vegetarian-focused festival.

Through The Great Saiva Festival, Rasanai offers diners an opportunity to explore South Indian street food beyond familiar staples, with regional flavours presented through a contemporary vegetarian lens.

The festival is being hosted simultaneously across Rasanai outlets in Chennai, Coimbatore and Kochi, making the experience accessible to diners across three cities.
