This 12-month immersive training program, developed in partnership with Thaksin University, is designed to shape the next generation of Phulay Bay Butlers, blending expertise with empathy to craft unparalleled guest experiences.
The Phulay Bay Butler Academy aims to provide students with more than just traditional service skills. It prepares them to become local experts, gifted storytellers, wine connoisseurs, gastronomy and mixology specialists, and wellness advisors. Through both classroom education and hands-on training at the resort, apprentices will learn how to curate deeply personalized guest journeys while embodying the warmth and intuition that define world-class hospitality.
Guiding them through this journey is Khun Yid, Phulay Bay’s Head Butler, who has been with the property since its pre-opening. With an intimate knowledge of Krabi’s hidden gems, he shares his expertise on the region’s untouched islands, culinary secrets, and artisan traditions. In a landmark partnership aimed at nation-building through skilling and workforce development, upGrad, one of Asia’s leading lifelong learning platforms, has joined hands with the Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) to empower military veterans and their dependents with career opportunities. This initiative is designed to help them transition seamlessly into India’s corporate ecosystem.
For the first time, this strategic collaboration will provide customized upskilling programs in high-demand fields like AI, Digital Marketing, Data Analytics, and vocational courses, ensuring that veterans and their families acquire the skills necessary for both white-collar and blue-collar roles. This initiative aims to drive economic and social inclusion, making career transitions smoother for those who have dedicated their lives to the nation.
The Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) operates under the Adjutant General’s Branch of the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army) and has been facilitating second career opportunities for retiring and retired Army personnel, as well as their dependents, since May 1999. Over the years, AWPO has placed more than 1.3 lakh veterans across government, semi-government, and corporate sectors, making it one of India’s strongest placement ecosystems for ex-military professionals.
Major Gen Ajay Singh Chauhan, Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal (Retd), and Head of AWPO, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating:
