Uttar Pradesh takes a giant leap in fortifying its tourism and hospitality sector with the introduction of a groundbreaking star hotel classification system. The state's tourism department, led by Minister Jaiveer Singh, unveiled this innovative portal in Lucknow, marking a significant stride towards propelling the hotel business.

The new system categorizes hotels and resorts into five distinct tiers: platinum, diamond, gold, silver, and bronze. Minister Singh underlined that the classification would be grounded in quality, services, overall facilities, and guest experiences, all geared toward advancing the hospitality industry.

Singh emphasized the numerous benefits of this classification system. Hotels meeting the criteria stand to gain incentives, subsidies, and industry-standard tax benefits, enhancing their visibility and support within the sector.

The minister pointed out that Uttar Pradesh, with its rich cultural heritage and vibrant cities, is continually promoting its tourism industry. The revised classification, aligning with traditional star ratings (5 Star, 4 Star, 3 Star, 2 Star, and 1 Star), simplifies the selection process for tourists and fosters higher service standards among hotels.

The streamlined online portal launched by the UP Tourism Department facilitates hotel industry participation in the ranking system, providing detailed information about the new classification with a minimal fee requirement. The Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation will play a pivotal role in implementing this new classification, poised to attract more tourists and promote investments in the state's hospitality sector.

This strategic move is expected to not only enhance the standards of existing establishments but also drive investment, breathing new life into Uttar Pradesh's entire hospitality industry. The new classification system aligns with the state's vision for a sustainable industrial hub and a knowledge-based economy, leveraging skilled human capital and high-tech industrial development. Uttar Pradesh's commitment to growth is evident, setting the stage for a thriving tourism and hospitality landscape.
