IndiGo, India’s leading airline, has expanded its codeshare agreement with Qantas, Australia’s national carrier, to include four new Australian destinations: Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane. This collaboration, initiated under the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement, aims to strengthen bilateral ties. Starting with Melbourne, the codeshare routes will progressively include Sydney, Perth, and Brisbane in the coming weeks, offering IndiGo customers increased access to Australia.
In 2022, Qantas and IndiGo solidified their codeshare partnership, allowing Qantas passengers on non-stop flights between Australia and India to connect seamlessly to 21 destinations across India on IndiGo.
Mr. Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, expressed enthusiasm about the extended partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce these new connecting flights to Australia in collaboration with Qantas, connecting on IndiGo’s flights from India to Singapore. This agreement, a remarkable step for IndiGo, enhances our extensive network, providing seamless connections to Qantas’ unparalleled reach. It not only strengthens the bond between the two nations but also fosters increased opportunities for trade and tourism. As India's aviation industry thrives, this collaboration enhances our international connectivity, remaining steadfast in our commitment to delivering on-time, affordable, courteous, and hassle-free travel experiences across our vast network.”
