In a historic move for the global tourism industry, Shaikha Al Nowais has been officially nominated to serve as the next Secretary-General of UN Tourism, beginning January 2026. The nomination came during the 123rd session of the UN Tourism Executive Council held in Segovia, Spain, and marks the first time a woman has been chosen to lead the organisation in its 50-year history.
An accomplished Emirati business leader, Al Nowais brings over 16 years of expertise in hospitality. She currently serves as the Corporate Vice President of Rotana Hotels and is a well-respected figure in the tourism ecosystem. Beyond her executive role, she also chairs the Abu Dhabi Chamber’s Tourism Working Group and is a board member of both the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council and Les Roches Hospitality Academy.
Her nomination not only underscores her personal accomplishments but also signals a significant step forward in enhancing gender representation at the highest levels of international tourism leadership.
The Segovia session was also a moment of reflection and review, as outgoing Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili looked back on eight years of transformative leadership. “We have put tourism at the forefront of the global agenda to enhance its competitiveness and economic value,” he said. He highlighted the organisation’s focus areas, including education, investment, rural development, women’s empowerment, and innovation.
In addition to leadership transitions, the Council reviewed sectoral progress as global travel continues to rebound. According to the UN Tourism Barometer released in May 2025, international tourist arrivals surpassed 300 million in the first quarter of the year—14 million more than the same period in 2024.
Member States also received updates on the expansion of the UN Tourism Online Academy, improved data systems, and fresh initiatives in sustainable tourism. One of the session’s major announcements was the launch of the first UN Tourism Thematic Office on Innovation for Africa. Based in Rabat and developed in partnership with Morocco’s Ministry of Tourism, the office will drive innovation-focused tourism projects across the continent in alignment with the UN Tourism 2030 Agenda for Africa.
As Shaikha Al Nowais prepares to take the reins in 2026, her appointment represents both a milestone and a message: the future of global tourism will be driven by inclusive leadership and bold innovation.

Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai has announced the appointment of Chef Aditya Kulkarni as its new Executive Chef, ushering in a fresh era of culinary excellence for the property. With a rich background in luxury hospitality and a flair for innovation, Chef Aditya brings more than 15 years of experience to the role.
An alumnus and gold medallist from the Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development, Chef Aditya has held several key positions within The Oberoi Group across prestigious properties in Mumbai, Rajvilas, and Sahl Hasheesh in Egypt. Most recently, he led the culinary vision at The Bay Club, where he was instrumental in conceptualising and executing diverse food and beverage experiences.
In his new role, Chef Aditya will oversee all culinary operations at Four Seasons Mumbai—including the iconic rooftop bar AER, the refined dining spaces Opus and Modernist, in-room dining, banquets, and the hotel’s new takeaway offering. He is expected to play a central role in evolving the menus, mentoring the culinary team, and crafting memorable gastronomic journeys rooted in both local heritage and global trends.

A seasoned marketing communications professional, Shreya brings with her over a decade of cross-industry experience spanning hospitality, real estate, and consumer tech. Known for crafting impactful, data-led brand strategies, she has previously contributed to some of the most prestigious names in the business, including Hilton Hotels, Westin Hotels and Resorts, and Edelman.
In her most recent role as Cluster Director of Marketing, Shreya led communication strategies for Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn Bengaluru Embassy Manyata Business Park and Hilton Bangalore Embassy GolfLinks, delivering measurable results and enhancing brand visibility in a competitive market.
Shreya is celebrated for her ability to translate insights into high-impact, digital-first campaigns while leveraging PR and storytelling to connect with diverse audience segments. Her work has been recognized by the industry, notably earning her a spot in the Pitch Marketing and PR Moment 30 Under 30 Awards, underscoring her as a rising leader in Indian marketing.
A postgraduate in Advertising and Public Relations from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, Shreya’s strategic acumen and creative direction are expected to steer the marketing efforts of all three properties with innovation and intent.
With this new appointment, Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield and its sister properties are set to benefit from her results-driven approach and her passion for storytelling that resonates across platforms and markets.

redBus has announced the appointment of Saurabh Agarwal as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In this strategic role, he will lead the company’s overall finance operations, including financial planning and analysis (FPnA), compliance, legal, taxation, and risk management.
With over two decades of cross-sector experience, Agarwal brings strong financial leadership, business planning, and growth strategy expertise to the table. He started his career with Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance, where he held several senior roles over an 11-year tenure, working across corporate planning, finance operations, and distribution strategy.
In 2014, he joined the founding team at Medlife.com, where he played a key role in scaling the healthtech platform into one of the country’s top digital healthcare brands. More recently, he served as Group CFO at Livspace, where he steered the company’s financial function through rapid scaling and global expansion.
Prakash Sangam, CEO of redBus, shared his enthusiasm: “We are delighted to welcome Saurabh to redBus.
