As Vietnam and Mexico mark 50 years of diplomatic relations, Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi has added a meaningful tribute to their shared history. On May 30, the iconic Hanoi hotel unveiled a commemorative plaque to honor its role as the site of Mexico’s first embassy in Vietnam between 1976 and the early 1980s.
The plaque was installed at Room 215, the former location of the Mexican Embassy, during a special ceremony attended by dignitaries and representatives from both nations. This unveiling is part of a broader initiative by the Mexican Embassy in Vietnam to strengthen cultural diplomacy and friendship.
“This gesture not only celebrates the past but also reaffirms our shared values of respect, collaboration and cultural understanding,” said George Koumendakos, General Manager of Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi.
“It reflects the early presence of Mexican diplomacy in Hanoi and the values of friendship, solidarity and mutual respect that have guided our relationship ever since,” added Ambassador Alejandro Negrin of Mexico to Vietnam.
The hotel, which was then known as the Reunification Hotel, served as the diplomatic home for Mexico during a formative time in bilateral relations. The occasion serves as a reminder of the deep-rooted connections between the two nations and Metropole’s unique role in history.
To celebrate this legacy, the hotel has also revived its “Mexican Culinary Fiesta” at angelina, its signature cocktail bar and restaurant. Running from May 16 to June 15, this food and beverage experience brings a taste of Mexico to Hanoi with authentic cuisine, UNESCO-recognized culinary traditions, and bespoke tequila cocktails created by in-house mixologists.
Located in the heart of Hanoi since 1901, the Metropole is no stranger to history. The hotel has long hosted luminaries, statesmen, and cultural icons, and its 358 rooms—across the Heritage Wing and Opera Wing—combine French elegance with Vietnamese charm. Dining experiences here span from fine French fare at Le Beaulieu to local flavors at Spice Garden, Parisian street vibes at La Terrasse, and indulgent cocktails at Le Club Bar and Bamboo Bar.
This commemorative gesture and cultural celebration continue to highlight Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi’s role as a living symbol of international friendship and refined hospitality.

Thailand's coastal city of Hua Hin has added a new landmark to its skyline with VEHHA Hua Hin, the tallest residential tower in the area. Developed by Proud Real Estate Plc, this Fitwel-certified luxury project offers panoramic ocean views, a wealth of hotel-style services, and a lifestyle rooted in wellness and convenience — all now available through limited-time discounts, starting at around USD 118,000.
Standing 31 floors high, VEHHA Hua Hin is more than just another high-rise. It has been carefully designed with 364 fully furnished units, available in 1-bedroom, 1-bedroom plus, and penthouse layouts. Every residence enjoys sweeping sea views, thanks to single corridor planning, natural light, and privacy-focused design.
Recognised under the Fitwel Design Certification, the development promotes health, sustainability, and mindful living. As Ms. Proudputh Liptapanlop, Executive Director of Proud Real Estate, puts it, “Every element of VEHHA Hua Hin—from its design to the services—reflects our brand belief: ALL IS WELL. We are committed to building homes that improve everyday life in every possible way.”
Residents here enjoy exclusive access to Holiday Inn Resort VANA NAVA Hua Hin amenities and services, such as private catering, room service, housekeeping, and a complimentary three-year pass to the VANA NAVA Water Jungle, one of Thailand’s top water parks. Wellness also plays a key role, with curated health programs from trusted medical and fitness partners.
VEHHA Hua Hin's location in Nong Kae places it just 700 meters from the beach, close to the train station, and within five minutes of Hua Hin’s downtown attractions. This makes it ideal for digital nomads, retirees, families, and second-home seekers looking for a calm yet connected life.
Several large infrastructure upgrades are also making Hua Hin even more accessible:
Highway 35 (M35) upgrade will reduce travel from Bangkok to just one hour.
New dual-track railway already shortens train journeys.
High-speed rail is under progress for quicker city-to-sea access.
Hua Hin Airport is expanding to meet international standards by 2026.
The Thailand Riviera Project, a 950 km coastal road, is boosting tourism and real estate value across 12 provinces.
Hua Hin’s timeless charm — from its beaches to heritage spots — combined with smart urban growth has made it a prime spot for long-term investment. With limited land available in beachfront zones, vertical developments like VEHHA Hua Hin are in high demand.
The real estate market in Hua Hin has been growing steadily, with 5 to 7 percent annual growth. Reports from Colliers Thailand show that 76% of launched high-rise units in the region were sold by end of 2024. While most local projects attract 85% Thai buyers, VEHHA Hua Hin has seen nearly 50% of its sales from international buyers, particularly from the US and Europe — a strong indicator of global appeal.
Rental returns are also promising, with VEHHA Hua Hin expected to deliver annual yields of 5.5 to 6 percent, supported by its premium features, strategic location, and award-winning design.
Looking ahead, Ms. Proudputh sees Hua Hin becoming an even stronger global destination. “Hua Hin is more than a coastal town; it's a lifestyle. With its mix of natural beauty, modern comforts, and wellness living, it’s truly a destination of the future.”
As land scarcity continues and infrastructure strengthens, VEHHA Hua Hin stands out as a rare opportunity for those who want more than just a home — a well-balanced life by the sea.

A new wave of digital innovation is transforming the Vietnam Golf Coast into one of Asia’s most technologically advanced golf destinations. Stretching from Hoi An to Hue, the region—home to Laguna Golf Lang Co, Ba Na Hills Golf Club, and Montgomerie Links—is redefining what it means to play, experience, and enjoy golf in today’s digital-first world.
From GPS-enabled carts to digital swing analysis and streamlined booking systems, these smart upgrades are not only enhancing player experience but also reshaping service standards across the region.
At Laguna Golf Lang Co, the introduction of a new online platform now allows guests to book tee times and packages easily from anywhere in the world. Travel agents can also access a dedicated B2B extranet, boosting international visibility and simplifying bookings.
“Our goal is to make every step of the guest journey as easy and efficient as possible—from the first click to the final putt,” says Stephen Banks, General Manager of Laguna Golf Lang Co. With new swing analysis tools, the course also offers personalised feedback and performance plans, empowering players to improve with every round.
Over at Ba Na Hills Golf Club, the focus is on enhancing the in-game experience. The club is rolling out SmartScore, a digital scoring and management tool designed to streamline how players interact with each round. Simon Mees, the club’s General Manager, notes, “We’re confident it will enhance the way both our guests and staff interact with every round of golf.”
The club also leverages the Golf Caddie app, a platform where guests can track scores, write reviews, and tailor their game. With over 13,200 guest reviews, the app is now a vital feedback and engagement tool.
Meanwhile, Montgomerie Links continues to build on its digital leadership. Having adopted SmartScore in 2022, the club now offers GPS-equipped golf carts and real-time service options that elevate both play and hospitality.
“Technology plays a vital role in shaping modern golf course management,” says Le Vo Hoang Van, Club Manager at Montgomerie Links. “It gives us the flexibility to personalise service and keep improving how we deliver quality on and off the course.”
Combined with luxurious resorts, pristine beaches, and a vibrant culinary scene, the Vietnam Golf Coast is not only rich in natural beauty—but also emerging as a leader in smart, tech-powered golf tourism.
