SunRay Social & Swim Club has arrived at SAii Lagoon Maldives, bringing a new interpretation of the beach club experience to the Indian Ocean destination with a focus on daytime leisure, movement, wellness, food, music and social connection.
Following its soft launch at SAii Koh Samui Villas earlier this year, the concept is now expanding to the Maldives as part of S Hotels & Resorts' planned portfolio-wide rollout, with the final launch scheduled at SAii Laguna Phuket later this year.
Rather than following the conventional beach club model centred largely around nightlife, SunRay is designed around the rhythm of the day, moving from sunrise activities and water-based experiences through to golden-hour gatherings and evening entertainment.
At SAii Lagoon Maldives, the concept has been adapted to its lagoon-front setting, with the ocean becoming an integral part of the programme. The experience is designed for families, couples and groups of friends, combining active experiences with opportunities to relax and socialise.
SunRay's daily programme is structured across four distinct periods. First Light begins with activities such as sunrise yoga and beach bootcamps, offering guests a choice between a slower start to the day and a more active workout.
During Morning Drift, the focus shifts towards the water. Guests can participate in Aqua Flow workouts, floating pickleball, snorkelling and diving, combining recreation with opportunities to explore the Maldives' marine environment.
At Peak Sun, the energy increases with activities including mobile karaoke, water polo and pool volleyball. Water painting kits also provide a more relaxed creative activity for guests looking to take a break from the water.
Golden Hour brings a mix of sport and social experiences, including beachside table tennis, beach volleyball, padel clinics and Kick Box Fit. Families can also participate in sandcastle competitions designed to bring different generations together.
As daylight fades, a Boduberu sunset ritual introduces the rhythms of Maldivian culture to the experience. Evening programming then moves into live entertainment, with a rotating line-up of live bands, acoustic guitar sessions, DJ performances, DJ and live guitar collaborations, and the DJ & SunRay chromatic ritual.
Food forms another part of SunRay's daytime lifestyle proposition, with a menu designed around approachable, shareable dishes suited to the beach and poolside setting.
Drawing from Thai, Maldivian and international influences, the menu includes breadfruit crisps with aromatic Maldivian tuna mix, crispy tortilla with stir-fried beef kaprao, Phuket lobster arancini and Maldivian-style pizza.
The concept also features a dedicated Gelato Bar, with three creations inspired by SunRay's signature colour palette — Orange Amaretto, Toffee and Pink Guava.
Sun-inspired cocktails complement the food and gelato offering, encouraging guests to extend their time at the venue beyond individual activities.
According to Michael Marshall, CEO of S Hotels & Resorts, the concept has been adapted to reflect the character of each destination. In the Maldives, he said, the lagoon has become an important influence on the programming, from water-based activities and wellness to music, dining and social experiences.
SunRay forms part of the wider lifestyle offering at CROSSROADS Maldives, an integrated destination comprising three connected resorts, a 30-berth marina and a range of dining and entertainment venues.
Located around 15 minutes by speedboat from Malé International Airport, SunRay is open not only to resort guests but also to visitors looking for a day experience in the Maldives without an overnight stay.
Day Passes start at USD 30 net per adult and include access to SunRay facilities and 30% off food and beverages, including the Gelato Bar.
Meal Packages start from USD 75, while All-Inclusive Packages begin at USD 140, with dining and beverage inclusions. Children aged seven and below receive complimentary access.
All packages include complimentary round-trip speedboat transfers to and from SunRay.
With its expansion from Koh Samui to the Maldives, SunRay reflects a broader shift towards hospitality experiences that extend beyond the traditional resort stay. By combining wellness, water activities, food, music and social programming across the course of a day, the concept places daytime leisure at the centre of the experience rather than treating it as a prelude to nightlife.
Located within CROSSROADS Maldives, SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton is a family-oriented resort featuring 170 accommodation units, including family beach villas and overwater villas.
The resort offers a beachfront kids' club, dining venues, spa facilities and access to the wider CROSSROADS Maldives destination, including its marina, shopping and dining experiences and entertainment options.
