Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, has announced the opening of Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, an iconic hotel located in Frankfurt’s trade fair district. The opening marks an important milestone for IHCL as the Taj brand makes its debut in continental Europe.

The hotel was introduced by General Manager Albert Mayr, Spiridon Sarantopoulos, Senior Vice President, Operations Europe & USA, and Gaurav Pokhariyal, Chief Operating Officer – Full-Service Business. The opening celebration brought together members of Frankfurt’s business, social, political and cultural communities.

Speaking at the occasion, Albert Mayr said, “We are celebrating the continuation of a story that is deeply connected to this city. With Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, we are reopening a property that has long been an icon of the hospitality landscape while reimagining it for the future. Great hotels do not thrive on their past alone; they thrive on how their future is shaped.”

Spiridon Sarantopoulos of IHCL, which operates the hotel, highlighted the combination of the property’s heritage and Taj’s international presence. He said, “The combination of this hotel’s rich heritage and the international stature of the Taj brand provides a strong foundation for a successful future. We aim to offer our guests an authentic Taj experience while preserving the distinct character of the former Grandhotel Hessischer Hof.”

Gaurav Pokhariyal highlighted the importance of Frankfurt for IHCL’s international growth. He said, “With Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, we are marking an important milestone in IHCL’s growth journey. Frankfurt, as a major European hub for business and culture, is the ideal gateway for introducing the Taj brand to continental Europe. We are proud to bring Taj’s signature hospitality to guests in this market.”

The opening celebration was attended by several notable guests, including State Secretary Karin Müller, former dressage rider Ann-Kathrin Linsenhoff, Detlef Braun, CEO of Messe Frankfurt, and advertising icons and television presenters Nina and Julia Meise.

Reflecting on the reopening, Nina Meise said, “We knew the Hessischer Hof from earlier years, and I am delighted by how successfully Taj has honored and evolved the grandeur of this historic property.”

Julia Meise added, “That includes the reopening of Jimmy’s Bar. We are confident that the hotel will once again become one of Frankfurt’s most sought-after addresses.”

Guests at the opening celebration experienced a selection of specialties from the hotel’s signature restaurant, Bombay Brasserie, along with an oyster bar and a caviar tasting experience. Bombay Brasserie at Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt has also received recognition in Frankfurt und Rhein-Main geht aus 2027, debuting at No. 1 in the Indian Cuisine category.

The restaurant has also been featured among the “Newcomers of the Year” in the Asian Fine Dining category, while Jimmy’s Bar has been recognised in the Classic Bars category.
The opening of Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt expands IHCL’s presence in Europe while bringing the Taj brand to continental Europe, combining the property’s established identity with Taj’s approach to hospitality.
