Thailand has issued an advisory outlining the requirements for Indian nationals planning to visit the country under its visa exemption facility. From September 15, 2026, Indian ordinary passport holders travelling for tourism can stay in Thailand for up to 30 days without a visa.
Travellers must have a passport with at least six months’ validity from the date of arrival. They should also carry confirmed return tickets, hotel bookings and clear travel plans when entering the country.
Before travelling, visitors are required to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card within 72 hours before arrival through the official website. Indian tourists using the visa exemption facility must also carry at least THB 20,000 in cash per passenger.
Tourists are advised to keep all required documents ready before approaching the immigration counter. The advisory also states that every member of a travelling group must carry the required documents individually. The visa exemption is strictly meant for tourism. Indian passengers who have a job offer in Thailand have been advised not to use this facility and should instead apply through the appropriate visa options.
Passengers transiting through Thailand must also carry the relevant documents for their final destination, including an appropriate visa if required. For Indian tourists planning a Thailand trip, checking these requirements before departure will help ensure a smoother arrival and immigration process.
