The Orchid Hotel Mumbai, Asia’s first Ecotel hotel, continued its commitment to environmental conservation by conducting its annual Ganesh Visarjan Clean-Up Drive on Saturday. Supported by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), the initiative brought together members of the hotel team to clean Mumbai’s coastline following the Ganesh Visarjan celebrations.
Every year, Ganesh Chaturthi brings communities across Mumbai together for celebrations and immersion activities along the city’s beaches. Recognising the environmental impact that can follow these festivities, The Orchid Hotel Mumbai has continued its clean-up drive as an annual CSR initiative, highlighting the importance of balancing festive traditions with environmental responsibility.
As part of the initiative, the hotel team actively participated in cleaning the beach and collecting post-visarjan waste. The effort aimed to contribute towards cleaner shores and healthier marine habitats while creating greater awareness about protecting the city’s coastal environment.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Gaurav Shiva, General Manager, The Orchid Hotel Mumbai, said, “Ganesh Chaturthi is a celebration that brings Mumbai together, and we believe that our responsibility to the city should continue beyond the festivities. Through our annual Ganesh Visarjan Clean-Up Drive, we hope to contribute in a small but meaningful way towards protecting Mumbai’s beaches and marine habitats. At The Orchid Hotel Mumbai, sustainability is not simply a philosophy but it’s a responsibility we strive to carry forward through consistent action. We are proud that our team continues to come together each year for this initiative and contribute towards a cleaner and more responsible Mumbai.”
The clean-up drive reflects The Orchid Hotel Mumbai’s Ecotel ethos, which places environmental stewardship and community responsibility at the centre of its hospitality approach. The hotel continues to focus on sustainable practices, conservation of natural resources and community initiatives aimed at creating a positive environmental impact.
Through the annual Ganesh Visarjan Clean-Up Drive, The Orchid Hotel Mumbai aims to encourage collective action and highlight the shared responsibility of protecting Mumbai’s natural spaces beyond festive occasions and as part of everyday life.
