Versova has welcomed Tora, a contemporary neighbourhood destination bringing together inventive food, creative beverages, music, design and easy-going hospitality. Designed for everything from daytime catch-ups and long lunches to date nights and dinners with friends, the 40-seater destination aims to offer a space that feels warm, familiar and easy to return to.

Founded by Gaurav Sharma and Sangeeta Kapure, Tora reflects their vision of creating a destination that goes beyond the traditional restaurant experience. From its food and beverage programme to its interiors, hospitality and evolving atmosphere, every element has been designed to give the space a distinct personality while retaining a sense of warmth and familiarity.

"Tora is our vision of a contemporary neighbourhood destination where great food, creative beverages and an inviting atmosphere come together," say founders Gaurav Sharma and Sangeeta Kapure. "We wanted to create a space that feels equally natural for a casual afternoon, an intimate dinner or an evening spent with friends, while building an identity that guests can connect with and return to."

At the heart of Tora is a menu led by Chef Gaurav Gidwani, drawing from multiple culinary traditions and offering contemporary interpretations of familiar flavours. The menu balances creativity and presentation with seasonality and recognisable ingredients, bringing together contrasting textures, temperatures, acidity, richness and spice.

Signature dishes include Crispy Devil Eggs, Burrata Chaat Salad, and Puffed Rice Arancini. The Sweet Potato & Kaffir Lime Galouti offers a contemporary vegetarian take on the galouti, while Nihari En Croute presents the Indian classic in a refined pastry format.

The beverage programme is led by Director of Mixology Shobith Salian and covers cocktails, coffee, matcha-based creations and signature beverages. Highlights include Tiramisu Coffee, Kunafa Chocolate, Pistachio Latte, Cotton Candy White Chocolate Matcha, and Passionfruit Coconut Cloud.

The interiors add to Tora's neighbourhood appeal with thoughtful lighting, layered textures and distinctive details. The setting is designed to move from relaxed daytime conversations to more animated evenings, while keeping the overall atmosphere intimate, warm and inviting.

Managing Partner Arka Mukherjee leads the project's hospitality, sales, business development and brand-building efforts. Alongside the founders and the culinary and beverage teams, he is helping shape Tora's commercial direction while keeping the guest experience at the centre of the brand.

With Versova as its first home, Tora aims to build a distinctive hospitality brand around good food, creative beverages, thoughtful spaces and a strong sense of neighbourhood. As it grows, the brand hopes to retain the warmth and individuality that define its first destination.
