Tourism Malaysia is set to launch its largest-ever Sales Mission to India from 3rd to 7th February 2025, visiting Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Kochi. A delegation of 62 sellers from Malaysia will participate, emphasizing opportunities in Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism, wedding tourism, and leisure travel, with a focus on India’s Southern region.

In 2024, Malaysia welcomed a record one million tourists from India, with Southern India contributing more than 50% of visitors. The strong connectivity between the two regions is reinforced by 151 weekly flights and a total seat capacity of 26,686 seats per week. The recent launch of Indigo Airlines’ new flights to Penang and Langkawi from Chennai and Bangalore further enhances travel options for Indian travelers.

Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, highlighted India’s importance, stating that with Visit Malaysia Year 2026 approaching, the country is targeting 1.6 million Indian travelers. Southern India’s strong flight connections and high demand make it crucial to Malaysia’s tourism growth strategy. This mission will showcase Malaysia as a premier destination for MICE, weddings, and leisure travel, offering world-class infrastructure and diverse experiences.

Malaysia’s MICE tourism sector features state-of-the-art convention centers, luxury hotels, and seamless services for business events. Wedding tourism is also rapidly expanding, with Indian couples choosing Malaysia for its picturesque locations and world-class services.

Mr. Hishamuddin Mustafa, Director of Tourism Malaysia Chennai, emphasized the significance of Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Kochi as key markets. With 84 weekly flights and 12,395 seats per week, Malaysia remains a prime destination for business events, weddings, and vacations. The upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2026 aims to showcase new destinations, cultural experiences, and premium venues to Indian travelers.

The Sales Mission will reinforce Malaysia’s position as a preferred destination for MICE, weddings, and leisure travel, strengthening its presence in Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Kochi.
