Destination weddings continue to be a dream for Indian couples, with many seeking picturesque settings to celebrate their love. According to a recent survey by The Wedding Company, Udaipur has emerged as the most preferred wedding destination, with 30% of couples choosing a royal-inspired wedding in the historic city. Goa follows closely, with 25% opting for a beachfront ceremony against the backdrop of a stunning sunset.
Beyond these popular choices, mountain retreats and Tier-2 city weddings are gaining traction. The survey reveals that 15% of couples favor a serene wedding in Himachal Pradesh, while another 15% explore hidden gems in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Other sought-after locations include Kerala’s backwaters and the pristine beaches of Andaman & Nicobar.
Reflecting on the evolving wedding landscape, Mr. Pawan Gupta, CEO & Co-founder of The Wedding Company, shared, “Indian weddings are grand celebrations of love, culture, and individuality. Today’s couples are curating unique experiences, and at The Wedding Company, we are committed to blending tradition with modernity to craft memorable weddings.”
The survey also sheds light on wedding budget allocations. Venue expenses take up the largest share at 40%, followed by catering at 25%, decor and floral arrangements at 20%, and 15% allocated to photography, entertainment, and bridal attire. Mid-range budgets dominate the market, with 35% of couples spending between ₹10-25 lakh and 25% allocating ₹25-50 lakh. Meanwhile, 20% of couples plan weddings below ₹10 lakh or above ₹50 lakh, showcasing a growing preference for luxury celebrations.
When it comes to planning, 45% of couples opt for professional wedding planners to ensure a seamless experience. However, 40% prefer a mix of professional expertise and family involvement, while 15% choose a completely family-led approach for a personalized touch.
Emerging wedding trends are also shaping the industry, with micro weddings, technology integration, and sustainability taking center stage. Around 30% of couples embrace intimate weddings for grander experiences, while 25% incorporate tech elements like drones and holograms. Sustainability is also gaining momentum, with many couples opting for eco-friendly celebrations.
As Indian weddings evolve, the trend of blending tradition with modern innovation continues to grow. With a diverse range of breathtaking locations and tech-driven planning tools, couples can craft a wedding experience that is both meaningful and unforgettable.
