The Uttarakhand government has given the green light to establish the Rajaji Tiger Reserve Conservation Foundation. The foundation's primary goal is to accelerate and facilitate the ecological, economic, social, and cultural development in and around the Rajaji Tiger Reserve. This decision was made during a state Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Objectives of the Foundation:

1. Environmental Protection: The foundation will focus on protecting the natural environment in and around the Rajaji Tiger Reserve, preserving biodiversity, and maintaining the ecological balance of the region.

2. Alternative Livelihoods: It aims to provide alternative livelihood opportunities to local communities, reducing their dependence on forest resources.

3. Eco-Tourism: The foundation will promote eco-tourism in the area, allowing local communities to benefit economically from tourism activities while preserving the natural beauty of the reserve.

4. Human-Wildlife Conflict: Addressing human-wildlife conflict will be a priority, ensuring the safety and well-being of both wildlife and local residents.

Simplified Tourism Policy:

The Cabinet also decided to amend the state’s tourism policy to implement it through a single window system. This move aims to simplify procedures for businesses, promote ease of doing business, and attract investments in the tourism sector.

Muni Ki Reti-Dhalwala Upgradation:

The Municipal Council of Muni Ki Reti-Dhalwala will be upgraded from category-2 to category-1 due to its popularity among tourists, yoga enthusiasts, and adventure sports lovers. This upgrade is expected to enhance tourism-related infrastructure and services in the area.

With this new foundation and policy amendments, Uttarakhand is taking steps to protect its natural environment, support local communities, and promote responsible tourism. It's a positive development for the state's conservation efforts and tourism industry.
