The city of Indore has welcomed Masala Code, a new dining destination by chef and founder Vedant Newatia, known for his innovative approach to Indian cuisine. This marks his second restaurant in the city, and with it, Newatia turns his focus inward, celebrating India’s culinary soul through 29 regional cuisines brought together in one vibrant space.

Spread across 3,150 square feet, Masala Code reimagines Indian hospitality with design and emotion at its core. Terracotta flooring made by local artisans greets guests, while pendant lights and golden-hued ambience create a warm, intimate mood. Instead of traditional artwork, handcrafted tiles and custom furniture lend the restaurant a sense of place and personality.

The restaurant’s design, conceptualised by London-based architect Karan Gandhi, reflects India’s evolving culinary story. The Spice Wall, one of its highlights, pays homage to the heart of Indian cooking constantly changing with the seasons to reflect the rhythm of local kitchens. The Bar Installation adds quiet drama, transitioning from deep terracotta tones to lighter shades that meet a reflective ceiling, creating an illusion of movement and depth.

For those seeking indulgence, the Wine and Cigar Display blends Eastern warmth with Western sophistication, while touches like the Bread Counter and a Bookshelf of culinary tales celebrate India’s storytelling traditions around food.

No matter where you go in India, recipes are almost a secret language, spoken through spices, passed down in family kitchens, and whispered between simmering pots. Masala Code was born from that idea: that Indian cuisine is not a single story but a constellation of stories,” said Vedant Newatia, founder of Masala Code.

From design to cuisine, Masala Code stands as both a tribute and a reinvention—an experience that captures the beautiful chaos, comfort, and creativity of India’s kitchens.
