In a bid to further elevate its status as a top-tier travel destination, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation (BMOTIA) has launched an exciting new advertising campaign at New York's bustling Penn Station. This month-long brand campaign is set to captivate the hearts of American travelers with the allure of the tropical paradise that is the Bahamas.

The campaign features the strategic placement of 200 eye-catching Bahamas posters throughout Penn Station, the busiest rail hub in the United States. Located just outside midtown Manhattan, Penn Station is a transit hub for over 600,000 commuters daily from New York City, Long Island, and New Jersey. This makes it an ideal location for reaching a vast audience in the US northeast, which is the largest source market for visitors to the Bahamas, contributing over 360,000 visitors annually.

In a unique twist, BMOTIA has partnered with JetBlue Vacations to run a sweepstake that complements the poster campaign. The grand prize? A three-night air and hotel package to the Bahamas, including roundtrip tickets for two. This sweepstake adds an interactive element to the campaign, inviting potential travellers to envision themselves basking in the sun-drenched beaches of the Bahamas.
The goal of this campaign is clear: to enhance the visibility of the Bahamas during the peak travel season and to drive increased visitor traffic from the US northeast. The Hon I Chester Cooper, Bahamas Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, expressed optimism about the initiative. “Our tourism business is in robust growth mode. Having welcomed an unprecedented 8 million plus visitors in 2023, our aim for 2024 is to continue this upward trajectory in visitor arrivals,” he stated.

BMOTIA Director General Latia Duncombe highlighted the surge in demand for a Bahamas vacation experience, noting, “In 2023, we witnessed a surge in demand for a Bahamas vacation experience. Our diverse offerings of 16 unique islands, coupled with the hospitality of our people, continue to attract travellers from around the world to our destination.”

This campaign by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism showcases a proactive approach to marketing, merging strategic location selection with engaging promotional activities. As travellers in the US northeast hustle through Penn Station, the dream of a Bahamian getaway now beckons closer than ever.
