As the tourism and hospitality industry continues to evolve, technology is becoming an important part of how travellers discover destinations, plan their journeys and experience their stays. From digital tools and artificial intelligence to personalised services, technology is helping hotels and tourism businesses respond to changing guest expectations.
On World Tourism Day, Rayan Aranha, Vice President, Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited, shares his perspective on the growing role of technology in hospitality and the importance of keeping the human touch at the heart of the guest experience.
“Technology is a means to enhance hospitality, not define it. Today's traveller expects convenience, speed and personalization at every touchpoint, from discovering a destination to checking out after their stay. Digital tools and artificial intelligence give us the ability to better understand these evolving expectations and respond with greater efficiency and relevance. We must also keep in mind that hospitality will always remain a deeply human business. A warm welcome, thoughtful service and genuine care cannot be automated.
The real opportunity therefore lies in using technology to take care of routine processes so that focus can be more on creating memorable guest experiences and meaningful connections. Technology should be used to help us become more responsive, more sustainable and more intuitive, while preserving the essence of hospitality that guests continue to value most.
As the tourism industry evolves, the future will belong to organisations that strike the right balance between digital innovation and human-centric service.” says Rayan Aranha, Vice President, Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited.
His observations highlight the changing expectations of today’s travellers, while also underlining the importance of personal interaction in hospitality. As hotels continue to adopt new technologies, the focus remains on using these tools to support teams, improve efficiency and create more relevant guest experiences.
For the tourism and hospitality sector, the balance between digital innovation and genuine human connection is likely to remain an important part of the guest journey. Technology can simplify processes and improve responsiveness, while the warmth of hospitality continues to come from the people behind the experience.
