Masters of Marriott Bonvoy and Culinary Culture have initiated a significant culinary collaboration with American Express to host Central, the top-rated restaurant from Lima, Peru, at The St. Regis Mumbai. Renowned Chef Virgilio Martínez will personally oversee two exclusive dining events on the 24th and 25th of May 2024, marking a first-of-its-kind experience in India.
As the reigning 'World’s Best Restaurant 2023' according to the prestigious World's 50 Best Restaurants list, Central’s venture into the Indian market is a noteworthy event. Guests at the St. Regis will be treated to a meticulously crafted six-course tasting menu that emphasizes the rich biodiversity of Peru. Each dish represents a unique aspect of the Peruvian landscape, from the coastal seas to the high Andes, showcasing ingredients sourced from various altitudes ranging from -15 meters below sea level to 4200 meters above.
Chef Virgilio Martínez, celebrated for his innovative approach and commitment to showcasing Peruvian culture through cuisine, aims to introduce Mumbai to the complexities of Peruvian flavors and cooking techniques. His culinary philosophy, encapsulated by the motto “outside there is more,” explores the untapped potential of Peru’s natural offerings. Central has consistently been a fixture in the top echelons of global culinary rankings, not only for its food but also for its commitment to sustainability and cultural preservation.
The event at The St. Regis Mumbai is the result of meticulous planning and collaboration between several prestigious partners, including Culinary Culture, Marriott Bonvoy, and American Express. Raaj Sanghvi, CEO of Culinary Culture, noted the significance of bringing such a distinguished chef and his culinary art to India, emphasizing the shared commitment to excellence and innovation in fine dining.
This exceptional dining opportunity is anticipated to attract food enthusiasts from across India and beyond, eager to experience the unique flavors and culinary expertise that have earned Central such critical acclaim. The event is more than a meal; it's a cultural exchange and a testament to the power of culinary art to bridge diverse worlds.
