Yashoda Medicity, Ghaziabad, has launched ‘Rep Se Rescue Tak – Train Hard. Respond Faster.’, a World Heart Day campaign focused on strengthening cardiac emergency preparedness across gyms and fitness facilities in Delhi-NCR.

The initiative brings together fitness professionals, cardiologists, emergency medicine specialists, paediatric cardiac experts and fitness influencers to address the need for faster recognition and response when a medical emergency occurs during exercise.

The campaign comes amid growing public attention around reports of sudden collapses and cardiac emergencies during or immediately after workouts. The issue has also featured in policy discussions, with Punjab issuing an advisory in 2025 focused on preventing sudden cardiac arrest among gym-goers and sportspersons, including recommendations related to medical screening, safer training practices and emergency response.

Against this backdrop, Yashoda Medicity has structured ‘Rep Se Rescue Tak’ around three areas, cardiac and fitness awareness, structured trainer certification, and hands-on emergency response training.

The campaign brings together Dr. P.N. Arora, Chairman and Managing Director, Yashoda Group of Hospitals; Dr. Sandeep Jain, Director and Head, Emergency Medicine and Trauma Care; Dr. Asit Khanna, Director, Interventional Cardiology; Dr. Manish Aggarwal, Director, Interventional Cardiology and Structural Heart; Dr. Dhirendar Singhania, Director, Interventional Cardiology; Dr. Rachit Saxena, Director and Unit Head, Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery; Dr. Gaurav Kumar, Senior Consultant, Pediatric Cardiology and CTVS; and Neeraj Pal, Fitness and Wellness Coach.

More than 70 fitness professionals across participating gyms have already completed the Yashoda Certified Gym & Trainer Initiative. The programme covers the recognition of a suspected cardiac arrest, activation of professional medical assistance, initiation of CPR and awareness of when an automated external defibrillator (AED) may be used.

The training combines expert instruction with live CPR demonstrations and hands-on simulations. Participants practise assessing an unresponsive person, beginning chest compressions and coordinating the response while waiting for professional medical assistance.

Dr. P.N. Arora, Chairman & Managing Director, Yashoda Group of Hospitals, said the initiative aims to bring cardiac preparedness beyond the hospital and into everyday fitness environments. He highlighted the importance of equipping trainers and fitness professionals with the knowledge and confidence to respond during the crucial first minutes of an emergency.

Dr. Asit Khanna, Director, Interventional Cardiology, Yashoda Medicity, said fitness professionals are often among the people closest to an individual when an emergency occurs. He emphasised the importance of recognising a suspected cardiac arrest, activating medical assistance and beginning an appropriate response while professional care is on the way.

The campaign also extends its outreach through fitness and community influencers across Delhi-NCR. The initiative aims to bring conversations around heart health, responsible exercise and emergency preparedness into everyday fitness spaces.

Through ‘Rep Se Rescue Tak – Train Hard. Respond Faster.’, Yashoda Medicity is positioning cardiac preparedness as part of the broader fitness conversation, with the certification programme focused on helping participating gyms and trainers develop basic emergency response capabilities.
