In a significant move towards bolstering India’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities, Union Minister of Civil Aviation & Steel, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, unveiled Airbus’s expansion in its “Make-in-India” initiative. Airbus has collaborated with Dynamatic Technologies, based in Bengaluru, to manufacture all doors for the single-aisle A220 family aircraft in India.

Highlighting the importance of this venture, Shri Scindia emphasized India’s growing stature as a destination for aerospace manufacturing. He lauded the largest order for aircraft doors to Dynamatic Technologies, underscoring the government’s commitment to the Make in India initiative.

Airbus’s contribution to this mission is noteworthy, with the company already exporting products worth $750 million from India. Shri Scindia commended Airbus’s investment in technology transfer and human resource development in India, strengthening Indo-France ties in the process.

The A220 aircraft, with a range of up to 3,600 nautical miles and seating capacity for 100 to 160 passengers, aligns perfectly with India's UDAN scheme, aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and fostering economic growth.

This collaboration not only signifies a significant export contract for an Indian aerospace manufacturer but also offers opportunities for downstream value chain development. It marks the second such contract awarded by Airbus to an Indian supplier, reflecting the company's commitment to fostering a robust aerospace ecosystem in India.

Dynamatic Technologies’ role in manufacturing and assembling the A220 aircraft doors showcases India’s growing prowess in the aerospace industry. Airbus’s continued investment in India, including the establishment of final assembly lines for military aircraft and helicopters, further solidifies the nation’s position as a key player in the global aerospace market.

Airbus’s partnership with Dynamatic Technologies represents a significant step forward in India's aerospace manufacturing landscape, aligning with the government’s vision of Make in India and reinforcing the nation's position as a global manufacturing powerhouse.

In a significant move to promote tourism and economic growth, the Malaysian government has announced the extension of the visa exemption for Indian nationals until December 31, 2026. This extension aligns with Malaysia’s plans for its ASEAN chairmanship in 2025 and its preparations for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

The announcement was made by Home Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Awang Alik Jeman on December 20, 2024. In his statement, Awang Alik confirmed that a similar visa exemption had also been granted to Chinese nationals, further solidifying Malaysia's strategic visa liberalisation plan. The plan, which was launched on December 1, 2023, grants a 30-day visa exemption to both Indian and Chinese nationals.

"This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance Malaysia’s appeal as a top travel destination while ensuring the safety and security of the nation," said Awang Alik. The extension is expected to attract a higher number of tourists from India and China, providing a significant boost to Malaysia’s tourism sector, which is vital to the country’s post-pandemic recovery.

The move reflects Malaysia’s commitment to balancing ease of access with national security concerns. As the country prepares for key international events, including ASEAN chairmanship and Visit Malaysia Year 2026, the visa exemption is seen as a crucial part of Malaysia's long-term growth strategy in the tourism and economic sectors.
