Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Development of Northeast Region, has announced that India is developing an action plan to promote shared themes such as Buddhism, Ramayana, and Himalaya heritage circuits that resonate with partner countries. The country is committed to integrating economic, social, and environmental sustainability into its policies and priorities, which will feature prominently in the upcoming National Tourism Policy. Reddy emphasized that India, as one of the few continuous living civilizations, values sustainability and coexistence with nature.

To encourage tourists to contribute to environmental protection, India is advocating "Travel for Life" as part of the Lifestyle for the Environment movement. This initiative aims to raise awareness among tourists and encourage them to take simple actions that have a significant impact on climate action and environmental preservation.

To instil pride in the rich cultural and geographical diversity of India, youth tourism clubs are being established in schools and universities nationwide. These clubs will also promote awareness of sustainable tourism practices among young people.

Reddy highlighted India's hosting of G-20 meetings in 55 cities, which provided policymakers with firsthand experiences of the country's beauty and wonder. The 'Goa Declaration,' endorsed by all G-20 members, focused on green tourism, digitalization, empowering youth through skills development, supporting start-ups and small firms, fostering innovation and dynamism, and effective destination management.

Reddy echoed the Prime Minister's vision by emphasizing that the tourism sector should not only preserve the country's rich heritage but also create world-class tourism infrastructure.
